They have decided to conduct a second random selection from the previously submitted registrations for the FY 2024 H1B Cap. Now, let me explain what this means after providing you with all the necessary information from an authentic source.

The notice, released on July 27, stated that the USCIS conducted the first round of random selection in March 2023 for the Fiscal Year 2024 H1B cap. This included selections for the advanced degree exemption, offering 20,000 additional seats.

For those of you who have already received approval emails for your petitions, congratulations! However, if your status still shows as “submitted” but you haven’t received an approval yet, this news is for you. The USCIS has determined that they need to select additional registrations to meet the FY 2024 numerical allocations, totaling 85,000 visas. Therefore, they will conduct another round of random selection to reach this final cap.

This selection, commonly known as the lottery, will occur among the pool of registrants whose status is still shown as “submitted.” If you are selected, your status will be updated to “selected” after the announcement and communication from the USCIS.
