When I’m feeling depressed I turn on K-Love Radio. There is always an uplifting song. I can put myself in the shoes of the story teller. I’ve always liked Christian music even when I didn’t know some of the artists I listen too were Christian artists.

When I thought of ending my life after my offense, I only had a am/fm radio on my flip phone. Plugging in headphones gave me radio stations. The only one that came in was K-Loge. There was a song called God’s Not Done With You by Tauren Wells that came on and gave me hope.

    “…God’s not done with you
Even with your broken heart and your wounds and your scars
    God’s not done with you
Even when you’re lost and it’s hard and you’re falling apart
    God’s not done with you
It’s not over, it’s only begun
    So don’t hide, don’t run
    ‘Cause God’s not done with…”

Then later that day God Only Knows by King and Country came on.

“…God only knows what you’ve been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows how it’s killing you
But there’s a kind of love that God only knows…”

So now I have a ton of artists on my playlist on Spotify and ones I got off iTunes

When I got out of county and went home to fight my case, hurt was the first song I played on my record player. I bawled my eyes out.

  • Critical-Wrap1546

Hurt was written and performed by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Cash covered it. Sorry I know that’s not what you are asking for but that’s my favorite band so….

If you want to wallow in self loathing and sorrow I would recommend listing to the entire album The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails or Pornography by The Cure.

  • Libragal82

3 little birds Bob Marley. Some how were going to make it through this nightmare

  • ItGetsBetter82

Listen to “the light” by disturbed. I think everyone who registers should listen to that song.

  • Reasonable_Mall_7031

Berp beep beep beep, his horn went beep beep. It’s about a Nash rambler passing a caddy. Or how the little guy needs help from the big guy.

  • Lower_Supermarket512

Branded Man by Waylon Jennings (original is by Merle, but I have a version of Waylon Jennings singing it)

  • Krunzen64

Rise Above by Black Flag. Rose Tattoo by Dropkick Murphys. Dirty Pretty by In This Moment

  • C0V1D2024

Behind blue eyes (bonus track) , from fx’s legion soundtrack.

  • DiscountOne8933

    Sleeping at last – Saturn
    Emerald Eyes – Anson Seabra

  • Lazarus_Graun

Red Sun Rising is one of my more current discoveries that I absolutely love the sound.

After getting out, music really helped me keep myself afloat and spent A LOT of time listening to Spotify and checking out artists I had never listened to. Here’s one I made with songs that remind me of my new path:

Have you ever heard of STARSET or RED? I also love Journey and Foreigner! I also love Nickelback and 3 doors down. Highly recommend all of the above.

  • Affectionate-Gur5384

If one is looking to enhance ones depressive mood, look no further than Stabbing Westwards darkest days album.

  • Original_Heat5811

Nahko and the medicine for the people

  • WildLight25

You should listen to Smash Thru by Nelward! The lyrics are so good 🙏
