It’s Tier 3 for now. Casomb has proposed its changing to tier 1 (10 years), and that will be approached to the legislature starting this year. Their recs are usually followed….eventually.
So maybe by 2025, at the earliest, Felony CP in CA will be tier 1.
You can help this by working with and lobbying with ACSOL. See their site for specifics details about lobby day and lobbying efforts.
Military court, so your case is federal. Just take your licks in whichever court as long as it isn’t federal, and make sure you release to somewhere other than CA. Double check with your lawyer, but I’m 99% certain you’ll never be required to register in CA unless they have some squirrely law about anyone convicted in their state having to register there regardless of whether or not they live there like Florida. I was convicted in RI and never spent a day on their registry. I registered the day of my release on the opposite side of the country.
Side note idaho and wa are both 10 year minimum registry for CP, so it’s technically life but you can get off in 10ish. Washington has cp listed as a non public tier, so that’s a plus.
