Renewable Energy Hits 52% in the UK

In July, the United Kingdom reached a significant milestone in its clean energy efforts by generating 52% of its electricity from zero carbon sources. This achievement showcases the country’s progress in transitioning to a more sustainable energy mix.

The National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) reported a substantial increase in the proportion of renewable energy in the electricity generation mix. This reflects the continuous growth of the renewable sector and its positive impact on reducing carbon emissions.

On the 15th of July at 3pm, an impressive 86% of the country’s electricity was sourced from zero carbon sources. This high percentage demonstrates the potential of renewable energy to meet a significant portion of the UK’s power demand.
