Seized Property Dispute: A Credibility Crisis
The Initial Misunderstanding
All my charges were dropped, and my lawyer informed me that the 3 phones seized during my arrest were indeed mine and that I could have them back. I asked about the money that was on me during the arrest, having sold my car to acquire it. The money, I was told, would be refused by the police due to the prior charge. I was unaware at the time that there was any irregularity with the seizure.
Discovering the Truth
Upon meeting up with my lawyer to collect my seized property, my trust was betrayed when I opened the bag to find my 3 phones inside, without any mention of the disputed cash. I didn’t question this, as I believed my lawyer’s initial reassurances and was only aware that I was to receive my phones back.
The Toronto Police Reveals the Truth
After returning home, I received a letter from the Toronto Police telling me to schedule an appointment to collect my seized property, which included CASH and the 3 phones. The phone conversation with the police revealed that my lawyer had actually already picked up the seized property on my behalf. It was then I realized that my lawyer had lied to me about the seized property and had pocketed the cash involved.

Confrontation and Resolution
I subsequently confronted my lawyer about the situation, who initially suggested that the Crown would not return my seized property, including my phones and cash, due to the original charge. In a surprising twist, my lawyer then claimed to have fought on my behalf to secure the return of my 3 phones, citing their importance for business and personal reasons, as well as explaining that the cash was used for lawyer fees (although I had already paid these fees). Update 2 states that I eventually received 90% of my initial cash back, but without a clear explanation or apology from my lawyer.

****** just grabbed a
Report to to whatever law society your lawyer is a part of.
Not knowing TPS practices/forms, but could be possible the letter listed all property seized, which isn’t always the same as what is being returned. The courthouse would know if the cash was ordered forfeited (which would mean your lawyer never got it). I would at least check with them before assuming the lawyer took the money.
It’s common in plea agreements that cash is forfeited, even if some or all was legally obtained.
How much money are we talking about?
Cause if it was enough money to fit in a small plastic bag, it would be a very special kind of lawyer that would jeopardize their entire career over it.
Follow up with the police. This is more likely an error on their side, like a person completely unassociated to the file saying something without really making efforts to dig into actual dispositions.
Sounds like OP is just copying and pasting the same response over and over, not answering the questions that people have for him. Our job here is done. Op is useless
Do you owe your lawyer any outstanding bills? Lawyers don’t typically take petty cash for no reason
Fake account.
In the last year they have claimed;
Owning a car rental biz
Owning a jewellery biz
Being a hand craftsman
Being an AI creator
Moving in with an ex
Moving in with an ex and another person
Breaking up with a person
Living with the ex
(All of the living situation posts are spread across 4 months, as if you were always JUST ABOUT to move)
Trying to get back together with your ex
And last week you asked about buying a 6000$ item.
Until today you have never mentioned this missing money and now you are only posting copy/paste responses.
Why are you believing the police over your lawyer? One says it’s sent to the lawyer, the other says it isn’t and you’re immediately assuming which is correct. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m saying you’ve jumped to conclusions. First step would be to take that letter to your lawyer and ask him about the cash – if he says he never received any he should be following up with the police to ensure it gets sent. Doesn’t it seem far more likely that the police didn’t include something in the property bag, either by accident or not, than that your lawyer stole your cash?
Did you receive a final invoice from your lawyer? If not, start by requesting that. I assume you know exactly how much money the recovered from the crown/TPS
I bet they didn’t steal anything and the police are giving you the run around instead. Good luck hope you get it all back soon.

Was it your lawyer that picked up your stuff? Maybe a false lawyer picked it up.
Report this lawyer to the bar/license authority in your jurisdiction. Also fire hom via written notice.
What he did violated not just lawyer norms m, but also violated laws. He had no authority to act, lied to you, and even when caught refused to return property (cash).
Unethical doesn’t begin to describe this.

Is this your lawyer?
I got on the phone with my lawyer and he told me that the crown wasn’t going to give me back neither my phone or the money but he fought and told the crown that I really needed the phones because I had important pictures and information on my phones & for the money it was going to go to lawyer fees. Please note I’ve already paid all my lawyer fees
