Get a good lawyer to discuss the specifics of your situation regarding the house. That should be your first step. They can give you advice on the best course of action to protect yourself financially.

Contact any company that you have bills with, explain your situation (just the financial hardship part, your partner who shared the liabilities has completely ghosted) & see if they can assist. You need to specifically state that you are suffering financial hardship, and to speak to the relevant team.

For re-financing, you would need to speak to the bank to understand what your current options are.

And if you don’t have one already, start seeing a therapist. Get your mental health on track ASAP.

Check your super insurance. You might have income protection. You might need a certificate from the doctor saying you’re unfit for work (stress, depression). That might buy you some time to process what’s going on and find a new job.

    1. Do not, under any circumstances, move out of the house if you want to keep it. Change the locks maybe.

    2. Do not, under any circumstances, threaten, yell or otherwise lose your shit at your ex. You *must stay calm.*

You said you’ve been together for 8 years, how long were you living together for?
