Renee Ikard Promoted to Chief Financial Officer at Department of Human Services

Renee Ikard, who currently holds the position of deputy chief financial officer and director of budget for the state Department of Human Services, has recently been promoted to the role of chief financial officer, announced Department of Human Services Secretary Kristi Putnam on Tuesday.

Ikard joined the department in April 2019 and has since then proven herself as a valuable member of the team, according to a news release from the department.

As the newly appointed chief financial officer, Ikard will be tasked with overseeing the department’s budget, which exceeds $11 billion, and ensuring the financial stability of crucial programs like Medicaid, as stated by the department.

With her promotion, Ikard’s salary has been raised from $115,898 to $127,488 per year, confirmed department spokesman Gavin Lesnick.

The decision to promote Ikard was fueled by her strong financial background and successful track record within the agency, stated Putnam. She expressed her excitement to see Ikard step into this important leadership position and praised her deep understanding of the department’s operations.

Ikard takes over the role from Misty Eubanks, who previously held the position of chief financial officer and continued to act in an interim capacity when she assumed the role of deputy secretary for operations and budget.

Eubanks also voiced her support for Ikard’s promotion, highlighting Ikard’s extensive experience in finance and accounting and expressing confidence in her ability to excel in her new role.

Prior to her current promotion, Ikard had served in various roles within the Department of Human Services, including chief internal auditor, chief financial officer for the Division of Youth Services, and chief financial officer and business manager for shared services. Before joining the department, she held the position of assistant controller at the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College.

Ikard holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting from the University of Central Arkansas.
