Trade Update: James Harden to be Traded to LA Clippers

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed on a trade to send their guard, James Harden, to the LA Clippers as per sources close to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Harden, who is 34 years old, had requested a trade in June after opting into his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season. In August, during a promotional appearance in China, Harden publicly criticized Daryl Morey, the president of basketball operations for the 76ers, calling him “a liar” on multiple occasions. Additionally, upon rejoining the team earlier this month, Harden acknowledged that his relationship with Morey was beyond repair.

Although Harden had not played for Philadelphia this season, he was present on the bench during Sunday’s game, wearing jeans and a green hoodie. He had also participated in the 76ers’ pregame walkthrough and video session.

It is expected that Harden will take part in Tuesday’s practice at the team’s facility in Camden, New Jersey.

James Harden, a 10-time All-Star, has been one of the league’s top players for the past decade, with three scoring titles and the 2018 league MVP award to his name. He also led the league in assists last season.

Notably, Harden, who grew up in Southern California and attended Artesia High School in Lakewood, expressed his desire to be traded to the Clippers. This move reunites him with his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate, Russell Westbrook.
