AI Legalese Decoder: Ensuring Prisoners’ Rights and Seeking Restitution

Introduction

In the year 2020, I found myself in a challenging situation when I was arrested for drug trafficking. This event coincided with the onset of the second wave of lockdowns. As a result, my time in prison was met with additional hardships due to the stricter measures implemented in response to the pandemic. These circumstances have led me to question the rights and treatment of prisoners, particularly in regard to yard time and restitution for any violations.

Imprisonment Conditions

Upon entering the prison, I experienced confinement in a single cell for two weeks. During this time, there were limited opportunities for outdoor yard time and communication with the outside world. It was often the case that we were only allowed one hour out of our cell, during which time we could make a call. However, there were more days when we were completely confined to our cells, with little to no respite from isolation. This experience has led me to question the extent to which these conditions align with international standards for the treatment of prisoners.

Seeking Restitution

In reflecting on my experiences, I believe that the Geneva Convention may outline specific regulations regarding prisoners’ rights, including the provision of a minimum of one hour of yard time. My concern arises from the apparent lack of adherence to these standards during my time in prison. As such, I am seeking guidance on the best course of action for seeking restitution for these violations.

Good order and security of the jail take precedence over 1 hour yard time.

You were also compensated with emergency management days, one day off your sentence every time you were kept locked down.

Never thought I would ever read about a drug trafficker looking for legal info about how to sue for breaches to the Geneva convention. Last I checked, being arrested for the war on drugs doesn’t make you a POW.

    Geneva Convention?

You were done for drugs, not a POW.

  • Trickshot1322

In the off chance you’re not a troll:

    1. You weren’t wronged. They can keep you in your cell if necessary under those circumstances at the time.

    2. Human rights (human rights charter) aren’t protected or enforceable under Australian law despite Australia having signed it. This charter is kind of like the pirates code. More a set of guidelines.

    3. No your not protected under the Geneva Convention. You aren’t a POW. The war on drugs is a phrase to describe the legal, political, and social stance the government takes (took) to stopping the importation, use, and sales of illegal drugs. It isn’t a formal declaration of war.

Keen to see what other argument you come up with next!

So according to what youÔÇÖre saying, this took place over a two week timeframe?

You went to prison for a pretty serious crime. Maybe just walk away from this experience and learn the lesson.

Be thankful your crime took place here and not in one of many countries in this world that really wouldnÔÇÖt give a shit about your human rights!

If youÔÇÖre serious go see a no win no fee lawyer. If you have a case then theyÔÇÖll take it on but theyÔÇÖll very much likely say there is nothing to be done here and move on with your life.

  • SagebenoArt

If i was a prisoner of the war on drugs, arenÔÇÖt I technically a prisoner of war?
