Wait put it in a high yield savings account and let the interest roll until they come knocking
I’d be tempted to withdraw it, and tell the VA to file a claim to get it back. When they call I’d say “your claim is important to us, we’ll get to it as quickly as we can depending on the current workload. Once your claim is more than 120 days old, I’d suggest you call your congressperson or the White House………”
![gif](giphy|88iYsvbegSUn9bSTF8|downsized)
when they ask for it back, tell them their claim is still in gathering evidence and to check back in a few months
Make sure if youÔÇÖre going to spend it, to document each expense as an I.O.U. and compile them in a brief case for the VA. theyÔÇÖll want to know where the money went
Throw a huge party invite all the local strippers and charge a 20 dollar entry fee
Where are all my barracks lawyers at?
Call the va asap
Wow! Bank error in your favor, collect 40k. If it deposited, call the VA ASAP and do not spend unless you were expecting a hefty retro check for something. If it’s showing as pending, wait to see what actually hits the account first.
Send me some, I’ll take care of it.
DonÔÇÖt spend it. YouÔÇÖre liable for the repayment.
I had that happen with my income tax check once they added some zeros the advice here is sounddont touch it!
$30,000 on red
Spend it and say ÔÇ£due to high call voljnes there is a delay in response, to keep your place in line please stay in the phone or use option 3 for a call back when your turn in line is near!ÔÇØ
Run away to Dubai! LOL. Just kidding.
Spend it on a Hellcat.
Put in all on black ƒÄ░
A good time to file a MH claim. Lol. Nah for real. Return it. That’s government money, automatic felony if misused. Fight the temptations. Return it. Not worth the trouble.
TSLA puts.
Time for coke and hookers
There are a lot of ÔÇ£stick it to the VAÔÇØ and have fun with it before it gets called back comments.
One comment is right on. They (VA) will dock your monthly check until you pay the money back once they catch their error. If not paid back in full in a timely manner (VA will tell you what time limit you have).
I know, similar situation happened to me several years back. I was overpaid by a bit more than $35K. I contacted DFAS and was told by a representative ( with a good sense of humor), that I could either pay it back, now and in full; or wait until the Navy / DFAS caught the mistake and started to hold back my pay until it was paid in full.
Tell them to file a Congressional!ƒñú
Throw it all into options on the s&p500
I had an overpayment before and it took over a year for them to ask for it back and they did so in the form of an invoice that I had a full month to pay before taking any drastic action. For all the other jokes, putting the money in a liquid investment like a high yield savings account or a money market fund isn’t a bad idea at all. Just as long as you can get it out in a month or less without a penalty it could be a good investment.
DonÔÇÖt spend it seriously. Unless they tell you they have no records of you receiving it and if they give you the run around
No pending claims?
DonÔÇÖt spend it they will get back from you the easy way or the hard way
Go to your VA.gov account in a couple days and check payments. Do you have 10 months of backpay coming?
This feels like a win for all of us.
