Hard to say. I work in an office in PA and usually we can take other proof. Sometimes schools will provide proof the child is living with one parent. Your local office should be able to answer questions for you.

I would get it filed immediately that you have custody. If your ex has full, then you have none. And you have the child. That’s a bad combination legally.

As far as CS goes, are you paying anything now? Have you paid in the past? What do your incomes look like?

Here’s the calculator for your state. https://ncchildsupport.ncdhhs.gov/ecoa/workSheetA.htm

If you donÔÇÖt have custody on paper, you need to get that first. If your ex has full custody on paper, you canÔÇÖt ask for child support since you legally have no custody.

In my state, SC, child support follows **physical** custody. Meaning where does the child sleep at night. I work with NC quite a bit in child support and IÔÇÖm pretty sure it is the same there. If I were you IÔÇÖd just fill out an application with NC Child support and see what happens. Also, IÔÇÖm my state we do not pursue child support once the child is 17.5 years old. So you need to get started quick.
