    Barclays Criteria –

ÔÇ£Customers moving home who incur an Early Repayment Charge (ERC) on full redemption will have any ERCs refunded as long as they port their existing product, complete at the same time or within 90 days of redemption and the new mortgage is for at least 75% of their redeemed balance

Ported applications that fail to complete within 90 days of redemption, will need to be updated to a non-ported case on a new product available at the time, and any ERC arising from the original product will not be refunded.ÔÇØ

From memory they will either automatically refund it, or just give them a ring and enquire

Yes IÔÇÖve been in this situation.

I sold the house and paid the erc. The rule was that if I completed on another mortgage within 6 months, with Barclays then they would refund the erc.

It was very, very sketchy on details. Even the person I was speaking to at Barclays, the one explaing the above condition was not overly clear on the details.

But sure enough after completion I got a bacs transfer from Barclays with the refunded erc

Keep persisting and go through the complaints process, if needed. If theyÔÇÖre still not prepared to budge escalate to FOS. FOS tend to favour customers in relation ERCs.

Many thanks – I’m more hopeful now! I’ll give them another ring.
