Candy Cane Cash: A Chance to Win Big While Supporting Local Merchants

Enid’s hometown shopping promotion, Candy Cane Cash, is celebrating its 20th year, thanks to the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce and the Enid News & Eagle. Starting today, Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, shoppers have the opportunity to win cash prizes by shopping at participating local merchants. This year, the event has seen an increase in merchant participation, with 43 merchants and 47 business locations distributing tickets.

So how does it work? Shoppers who make a purchase at one of the 47 participating Enid merchant locations will receive half of a numbered ticket, while the other half is kept by the merchant. On December 12, on the day of the drawing event, all the tickets from participating merchants will be placed into a large hopper at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center. At 7 p.m., the winning tickets will be drawn randomly from the hopper. Winners will receive cash prizes ranging from $500 to $7,500, making a total of $15,000 in cash prizes available.

The Candy Cane Cash promotion aims to emphasize the importance of supporting local merchants and keeping tax dollars within the Enid community. Leslie Magalios, the advertising director of the News & Eagle, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from Enid’s local merchants. Their involvement contributes to the success of the event and helps the community thrive.

To increase their chances of winning, shoppers receive one ticket for every $10 spent at a participating business. Moreover, on Thursdays, buyers are given double tickets, providing an extra opportunity to win.
