# Situation Overview
The car is showing as scrapped on the 15th April 2024, even though I had possession of the car before that date. I find it puzzling as I have put an MOT on the car after the supposed scrapping date. Furthermore, the logbook went missing, and I suspect that someone utilized it to scrap a stolen vehicle and obtain a new logbook. I am seeking advice on how to proceed in this confusing situation.

# Communication with DVLA
I have informed DVLA about the situation, and they have mentioned that a certificate of destruction has been issued by the ATF scrapyard. This information appears contradictory and does not align with the facts of the case. I am in need of assistance and guidance on how to contest this decision and potentially uncover any fraudulent activity related to my car.

# HPI Check Results
Upon conducting an HPI check, it has been indicated that the write-off report is clear, and the salvage history is also clear. These findings raise further questions about the accuracy of the scrapping status attributed to the car. I am uncertain about the next steps to take in resolving this discrepancy and reclaiming ownership of my vehicle.

## AI Legalese Decoder Support
The AI Legalese Decoder can offer insights into the significance of the HPI check results and their implications for disputing the scrapping of the car. Did you ever get a replacement log book? If so check all the numbers vs the car in your possession not just the reg. If you don’t have a replacement log book you need to photo all the numbers and speak with the DVLA, you may also need to make a police report as there are really only two possibilities here:

    1. Someone has used your log book to scrap another vehicle and either the scrapyard was in on the fraud or didn’t check the car vs the book properly.

    2. The car you have is not the car you think it is and the reg will not match the VIN and/or Engine number.

Contact the dvla and explain it to them, mistakes can happen and/or malicious actors can submit fraudulent events.

The certificate of destruction is issued against the registration plate, so provide the VIN, registration, proof of ownership and if you can the engine number. Should give them enough points to cross reference and fix the records.

Also because some who holds only the v5c won’t have the vin or engine number to be able to validate against.

I’ve done a hpi check and cross-referenced. The vin does match the registration any advice what to do

This car was originally purchased from BCA AUCTION and was hpi clear it just don’t make sense

Car was possibly cloned including the VIN number, and was scrapped, or you have the fake stolen one with modified VINs.

    I’ve seen this…

Work in salvage, a car ended up with a COD against it incorrectly.

Some ATFs are that useless they’ll produce CODs just off an email list – wrong reg / mistake and your cars marked.

That list could come from a salvage yard or insurer.

Long and short, we never got it off, and the car had to be scrapped.

Said only way it could be amended is by the ATF that issued the scrap marker + COD.. which they can’t / won’t disclose, and I don’t know if there’s a process to undo one.
