All the info you need is here, straight from the Government of Canada website:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-passports/refusal-revocation.html#:~:text=In%20cases%20involving%20national%20security,are%20not%20to%20be%20delivered.
It details the circumstances under which refusal or revocation of a passport can occur, and the process that needs to happen to do so.
They can but they need a reason for it, one that would stand up in court. You would be contacted by registered letter at minimum and told to surrender it (to the RCMP most likely or local passport office).
I fairly sure it would take a court order to do this.
I am not a lawyer and this is a question for a lawyer you should consult one.
Unless you or your husband commits some sort of act of terrorism while abroad, I think you’ll be fine.
I think the only time the government would cancel a passport is in the case that you’re being charged with a SERIOUS crime here in Canada and deemed a flight risk.
I’m not a lawyer, I don’t work for Passport Canada, my thoughts and opinions aren’t worth a fart. I could VERY WELL be wrong.
Certain criminal charges can revoke someone’s passport.
