    Call Corporate Office?

  • pmmedoggos

Send the dispute through the credit agency. If they’re blocking you then it likely means they fucked up and they don’t want to get chewed out.

  • ReallyARigatoni

Petty but IÔÇÖd write them a horrible Google review (use both of your accounts for double the bad rating) and see if you get their attention that way. Sometimes the owners care more when itÔÇÖs more public.

  • Platypusin

    Gyms are scams.

Sorry donÔÇÖt have anything other to add.

  • Barrhavenor

Take them to small claim court.

  • Adorable_Meringue_51

You retrieve your Equifax/Transunion Credit Report and Dispute it from there. They have a specific page to file a dispute, include all info you have here, they will stop the gym fro. affecting your credit.

Never ever sign up for a gym membership, brutal to cancel. I got my wife out of hers years ago, IÔÇÖve never had to spend so much time for such a small amount of money, I went to one once after that. I told them I would only pay a full year in advance, when they asked for my credit card to be on file I said no. I made sure that there was a termination date hand written and signed my the manager on the agreement.

What does you contract say about cancellation?

  • wilkstawilk

Are you sure you read their cancellation form? They have a clause on there. “If you wish to completely cancel, you must acknowledge that your membership will cease in 30 days from the date of this form, that you are liable for any membership payments which may occur in that time and that you must pay the cancellation fee if you have not surpassed the minimum term on your contract”. If you stopped paying what was owed by contract, then you need to settle it up ASAP.

Did this even go on your wife’s credit report? If not just ignore the collection agency. Do you remember if your wife gave her DOB or SIN to the gym?

  • flootch24

I came here for a clear list of instructions on how to dispute with my wife. Cool story tho

  • One_Supermarket798

Leave a well worded google review, and other online reviews. It does work , and will steer people away from them.

Also report them to the BBB. It works also.

    Then call Corporate.

It seems you may be dealing with a collection agency. To confirm its legitimacy, check if it’s a recognized agency. Some entities, like Impark, own subsidiary companies, such as “City Collection Agency,” which may not be genuine. While they might lack the authority to impact your credit, legal action could be a possibility.

If it’s a legitimate collection agency, communicate your financial hardship. Negotiate to reduce the owed amount to the minimum they’ll accept and establish a long-term payment plan. Drawing from my experience with Rogers at 18, I negotiated smaller, frequent payments over several years, settling for half of their initial claim.

Contacting the gym might be ineffective if a genuine collection agency is involved. These agencies often buy debts at a fraction of the original amount and pursue much higher repayment. Be persistent in negotiation and payments, even if it’s a gradual process.

I’m not a financial professional, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Consult a financial professional or possibly a financial lawyer for more tailored guidance.

Steve mash fitness dis the dame thing to me fucking 13 years ago.

they STILL call me. They had fraudulently signed me up for a year membership when I had to sign an electronic tablet for a waiver on my 2 week trial.

Went for a couple weeks, hated the gym and the culture. Too many fucking absolute douchebags. I never went back. A year later they’re trying to get like 2 grand from me LMFAO.

The fucking chick who signed me up “doesn’t work for the company anymore” but the whole thing is valid (despite me showing up for a 2 week free promo, signing up on day 1 of the promo and NEVWR returning after the promo…) so I ignored it and forgot about it until reading this.

I don’t know how to help you, but fuck gyms and the people who operate them.

Edit: changed from 15 to 13 years.

  • Ok-Credit-1663

Dispute the charges. This is why pay every thing with credit card. Can do online yourself with your bank.

  • Grouchy_Factor

Always sign up for a gym membership with a reloadable pre-paid credit card. If you want to stop paying for the gym, then stop re-loading the card and drain the remaining funds with routine purchases.

  • The_Great_Dadvid

    Better Business Bureau maybe.

  • WestEst101

    ÔÇ£YÔÇÖallÔÇØ

We donÔÇÖt even say that in Alberta. A ÔÇÿlil bit of American cultural leak I see.

  • blogandmail

Get your local media involved and tell them the story… See if they would do a story on this

  • screaminyetti

Credit dispute probably. Report the gym to Better business bureau. Phone records for attempts and such documented efforts to resolve and non responses.

  • theCavemanV

always ask for confirmation in ***writing*** when cancelling accounts

  • izmebtw

Whats their GBP, we can leave some reviews

  • zathrasb5

What do the terms of the contract re cancellation say?

Often, policy does not agree with the contract.

When I cancelled (different gym) they tried to make me jump though hoops. Instead, I followed the contract word for word, and every time they said anything else, I simply said I have followed the contract, and if you take any more fees I will see you in small claims court. They shut up and stoped waistline my time, and processed the cancellation no problem.

  • AmbitiousAnimal6049

    Corporate?

  • CoffeeS3x

This is common practice for not only gyms specifically, but literally every shitty company. They refuse to answer calls or respond with proper information when you inquire about moneys owed, then send your debts to collections without notice. I had the same thing happen here in Ontario with the TSSA. Owed them a small amount of money, their web portal was down and wasnÔÇÖt accepting payment, sent 3 emails to the inspector I dealt with and the accounts email on the invoice, no reply, then collections notice.

All you can really do is dispute with transunion/equifax.
