I sent you a PM. I just wanted to ask if you were okay and if you needed help finding any specific resources because you’ve posted pretty similar questions multiple times this week. I don’t mean to seem rude at all, obviously you’re welcome here, I just wondered if there was something more that one of us could help you with somehow since you seemed to have a lot of similar questions. 🫶🏼

    We don’t.

    We just learn from them.
    Move on.

Past regrets can be channeled into future success.
I can’t change the past so I make sure I don’t make the same mistakes again

The past is what makes me who I am today. I can’t change it, but I can learn from it. I am finding peace with those facts, and knowing I am a better person than I was before.

Lots of great comments already listed. You never “get over” the past. You learn from the past and do better.

Stay strong, you can do it .

The registry doesn’t prevent crime, so the punishment (and regret) is the whole point of it. We regret because we are meant to regret, maybe unfairly, that’s not my place to say. But what we can do is choose what to do with the regret.

To be honest, although I cannot speak for others, I do not believe we get over our decision(s). For me, I cannot get over the decision that resulted in my going to prison, being on probation, and being on the registry. The fact is we are constantly reminded of our past through every day life so it never goes away, so how can sometime truly “get over” it. I think we learn to live with it and learn to navigate our live post-decision.

One of the profound insights of Christianity is that all humans are evil. We all do terrible things to others. Some of this cruelty is more serious, sometimes we pay legal consequences, but ultimately we are all human. And along with our evil is the capacity for good.

Not trying to preach by any means. It’s a philosophy I have that helps me accept the past and open my heart to help others. Making myself more charitable has helped me get over the horrible things I’ve done, and realizing that they don’t have to define the rest of my life. Best wishes man

I Just burry them deep and move on..

  • MySecretSOAccount

I use them as motivation to try and be better. Along the lines of “I’m not that guy anymore/I don’t want to be that guy anymore”.
