Not legal advice, but a 15 year old getting into legal trouble should NOT be living on their own.

  • exray0

    No.

You could live on the street, with a friend, or a relative but your own rental place? No.

If you want to be taken in by child services then sure .

Im sorry your having such a hard time that you want to leave your parents and please dont think I am minimizing your situation because I dont know your situation Рbut I think most teenagers at one time or another have wanted to move out of their parents home. At 15, you cant enter legal contracts like rental agreements and you cant hold a full time job that would prevent your from going to school. I do know that there are far too many 15 year olds whose living situation is horrible Рwhich is why there are child protective services like foster or group homes. They arent ideal  but they arent as bad as their reputation says they are. There are more genuine good people who want to help than there are bad ones Рbut the bad ones get all the attention. If you cant stay with a friend or relative, go to the police and say you cant go home (Im sorry Рthere may be better ways to get into protective services РI just dont know what they are) and will discuss your situation with you and your parents and bring in the experts to help everyone out.

The very fact that you are looking to take responsibility for yourself shows a lot of maturity, but itÔÇÖs not enough. You really donÔÇÖt know what you donÔÇÖt know yet.

Please – stay clean and sober and stay safe. DonÔÇÖt try to make it on the street.

I think you have to be whats the word? Emancipated? At the age of 16 you can become a legally independent minor. I used to go to a school with someone who was in bc back in the day.

You need to be at least 16, and then you have to be emancipated (art. 171 C.c.Q. to be able to live alone, and art. 168 C.c.Q. to be emancipated. You can read the whole chapter, art. 167 to 176.1 C.c.Q.). Note: it doesn’t make you a major, it just allows you to do some stuff on your own.
