Question to all, I had my MH c&p about a month ago and it didn’t go as I thought it would have. The Doctor did not even discuss the diagnostic criteria(s) and other symptoms that I have. All we talked about was my life before the military. I have been diagnosed with PTSD from the VA MH team and I have completed the iVET program. I feel like I got the short end of the stick.

Are you currently receiving MH treatment through the VA? If so, might be a good idea to start, get VA diagnosis and refile after a little while so the VA has better records. Then after that, file for an increase, submit a 4138 to the claim specifically asking for a C&P exam through a VA doctor not one of the contracting companies.
That last part may depend on where you live, but the VA near me is excellent

I didnāt report mine until 17 years after I got out. Never went to doctors, of course when I was in it was frowned upon and if you did go all you got was some Motrin and back to work, but even after my discharge I still didnāt go to doctors and treated many of my issues with beer. I didnāt even know I could file for benefits until 2 years ago. Honestly it just all depends on the examiner. I claimed a total of 4 claims being rhinitis, back pain, lupus, and MH. The MH examiner ended up being the best even though when I left the exam I didnāt think she cared at all. She did so well the rater tried tactfully to get her to change her opinion on service connection twice. I ended up getting a rating for MH. The examiner for lupus and rhinitis did such a good job that the rater had to send it to a doctor in New York (I live in Tennessee) to get a medical opinion she did not offer and thankfully because of pact act I got a generous 0 percent for rhinitis and lupus was denied because of no service connection. The doctor in New York was able to opine that lupus is caused by genetics and environment, though no environment was described, we know it couldnāt have come from the military environment. Back pain is scheduled for exam soon and rhinitis also from supplemental. It appears the doctors are a mixed bag. Even with records and diagnosis from a doctor still went for a c&p. Thankfully the doctor I seent face to face didnāt ask me anything other than stuff already in front of her so that was the need to send it to doctor I never spoke with or met. No way military service had anything to do with my auto immune disease that I didnāt have before I served. Guess it was just the luck if the draw to catch it second hand shortly after I got out.
