You need to find what you enjoy doing. You will probably be doing it for a LONG time. So find something you like doing. Big money is no good if you hate what you do. You will be happier with less money if you like your work.

  • Jessieisfat

Any trade you enjoy will make you bank. If you pick one you don’t like you won’t stay and therefore you won’t make bank.

They all make 6 figures at some point.
Pick the one you’re the most curious about.

My 23-yo nephew is in an apprentice program to be an electrician. He’s earning $26 an hour in a low cost of living area right now. That’s the result of a recent $8/ hour raise because his boss likes his work ethic. Not bad! He is a prime example of a person who was just not cut out for a 4- year college. But he learns well in a hands-on environment and is doing pretty well for himself.

  • Classic_Livid

IÔÇÖm an electrical apprentice making 19$ at six months. Started at 12$. Right now, no work. Your mileage may vary.

The foreman? 24-28, usually. Electrician wage is like, 24.

Granted as a woman I deal on a daily basis with men assuming I am bullshitting knowledge.

  • Heeler2

My brother does HVAC. He recently took on a management role and is now making more than me and I am paid pretty well at my job (one that requires a boatload of degrees but IÔÇÖm Gen X so that was more doable then it is for young people now),

  • DashboardError

Construction is very cyclical, electrical can be, but it depends on certain things and has a lot of possible job markets….HVAC also but I think less since it’s used all over in structures old and new. If I just had to pick, it would be electrical then HVAC ( swampy attics and crawl spaces are not for me). Plumbing is also great too.
