## Early Release After 7 Years of Probation

In the year 2017, I was sentenced to 10 years of probation. Today, after successfully completing 7 years of treatment and probation, I have been granted early release. This milestone marks a significant turning point in my life as I transition back to a sense of normalcy.

During my time under probation, I adhered to all the rules and regulations set by the state. Travel restrictions were a constant reminder of my past mistakes, limiting my freedom and mobility. However, with the early release granted, my wife and I wasted no time in seizing the opportunity to go on a much-needed vacation.

Despite the joy of being able to travel freely, I am still required to register and abide by the state’s rules and regulations. The potential pitfalls and legal jargon associated with probation can be overwhelming and confusing for individuals seeking to comply with these requirements.

Congratulations! That’s a huge milestone! I remember thinking I was going to have a big party when I came off probation; then the day came and I was happy to live my life. I could finally get a smart phone, I could own a camera, I could go to the mall. — Then I found out the malls were no longer places I’d want to go. The world had changed during those years , and so had I. I had successfully completed something difficult most people don’t understand.

Enjoy your restored freedom. Have a great vacation with your wife!!!

I’m almost there. I have 3 years probation and am halfway through. I’m prolly gonna try to file for early release during the 2024 holidays. Still have to make some extra $$$ to pay off my court costs and finish therapy, but I’m prolly 6-9 months away from that. After that, I’m taking my golf clubs and taking a cross-country trip for about a month.

Can’t wait. I don’t think a lot of SOs realize just how much better and free you feel when probation ends. So many people think the probation rules stay with you all your life. I did until my lawyer told me otherwise. You get basically all your freedoms back…you just have to report everything to the authorities on where you live, new car, etc. The worst part obviously is the target (which is why traveling isn’t a bad thing). But you can travel freely, go to parks, stay up all night, etc.

I did the same thing when I was done. I packed my bags and visited 3 different states. I didn’t stay long in any so I didn’t have to register. It honestly felt good getting away.

Congratulations, I remembered that day for me too. I literally did the same thing, I left on my first trip out of county on 1201AM and drove thru the night. Remember some states make you register if you are there for a long time even on vacation. Be careful about that and remember your phone tracks your location even if you turn that off.

    Be good!

I was able to get off early but it was largely based on the fact that probation recommended me for early termination
