## Purchasing a Dirt Bike Online from a Calgary Shop

I recently purchased a new dirt bike from a shop in Calgary using their online purchase system. The process seemed smooth as the order was processed, my credit card was charged, and I received an email confirmation of my purchase. However, when I contacted the shop the next morning, I was informed that the online system only serves as a hold, and that I can only charge up to $2000 on my card. The remainder of the balance would need to be paid in cash or through a bank order. It seems that this policy is in place to avoid credit card fees.

This situation has left me wondering if the shop can actually enforce this requirement, or if I have the right to insist on paying for the bike using the method I initially used for the purchase. The bike I bought was priced at around $13.5k, significantly more than the $2000 limit imposed for credit card charges.

## How AI Legalese Decoder Can Help

In this scenario, the AI Legalese Decoder can assist by analyzing the terms and conditions of the online purchase system to determine if there are any clauses that address payment methods and limits. This tool can provide insights into whether the shop’s policy of limiting credit card charges is legally permissible and whether the consumer has any grounds for demanding to pay the full amount using the original payment method. By utilizing the AI Legalese Decoder, consumers can gain a better understanding of their rights and options in situations involving online purchases and payment disputes.

Retailers can choose how they accept payments and what methods they choose and are not obligated to accept credit or debit cards.

If you don’t want to proceed further ask them for a refund of the $2,000 already paid.

How much cashback do you get?
Also I bet the proce is negotiable on the bike.
As the retailer for a discount that’s the same amount or greater than your cashback,

Remember also that splitting the purchase price between card and cash will void any extended warranty offered by the card.

If you have a receipt that says you paid the full purchase price on the card, then you have paid. If they are unable to deliver the product you have paid for, then they have an obligation to refund the purchase price in full.

If they change the terms of sale after payment, then they are changing the contract terms and are therefore required to refund the entire payment in full.

Changes in the terms of the contract require agreement from both parties to be valid.

Having said that, this is the problem with an online purchase. It’s very possible that you did agree to the 2000 being a hold of their max limit payable on credit card, if it’s included in their sale terms and conditions you would have accepted when posting the purchase online.

One or two people don’t read the T’s & C’s before they click on the agreement check box or however it’s presented, and those terms form part of the original contract.

Read through those T’s & C’s and that will give you an idea of if the retailer has a leg to stand on here.
