    2021 laptop… yeah no.

If you disagree take it to magistrates court and present your case. Maybe you will set the first precedent. Best of luck

What kind of screen issues? The law says that a product should last a reasonable amount of time. That depends on type of product, cost and what a reasonable consumer would say is the expected life time of a product. For example a fridge is around 10 year. Computers however are more complicated than that. The constant crashing could be caused by your use. Visiting sites on the internet that instal malware or virus for example. If the screen problem is not physical then you may be able to back up all your important data on USB and reinstall windows. There would be guides online to assist. I would recommend having access to another computer while doing the reinstall.

Early or late 2021? I think with a laptop, particularly because they are moved around a lot, anything you get out of it over a couple of years is a bonus. Don’t think you are going to be successful here.

Have you tried fully wiping the laptop and reinstalling Windows?

This may also help understand what timescales retailers would class as acceptable – https://thegoodguys.sirv.com/Content/2020FY/Terms/TGG056333_vwg_2020.pdf

Not a lawyer but would the ATO depreciation schedules be useful with determining how long things are expected to last according to the government

NAL. Computers are an interesting. Hardware is covered under warranty, software is not. The majority of retailers like hardly normal ect have an assessment fee which you pay unless you purchased an extended warranty or the device is found to be Hardware related.

You pay the assessment fee. They look at it and determine if its a manufacturer issue which is under warranty or a software issue where they wipe the laptop to factory and give you the working device back.

The steps I think you should take as someone who used to repair Hardware under warranty is as follows.
    1. Back up your documents extra.
2 either a) take it to a computer repair store and get them to access and write a faults found list. If Hardware related then forward this onto the retailer/manufacturer and ask for it to be fixed under warranty.
    B) restore your device back to factory yourself or if its software then pay the computer tech to fix or wipe to factory.

The main thing her is to prove to the retailer or manufacturer that it is Hardware, not normal wear and tear and should be expected to last a reasonable amount or time. That you have restored to factory defaults and you have the same issues still.

My opinion though is 1k laptop should last a year, 2k laptop up to 2 year and 3k laptop up to 3 years but if you can find that a reasonable time is longer than that threw legal sources then try and go with that.
