Work Begins on Travelers Rest Beautification Project with First of Three Murals

The city of Travelers Rest has officially started work on the first of three murals as part of its ongoing beautification project. Business owners in Travelers Rest selected Adam Schrimmer, the lead artist and owner at Blank Canvas Mural Co., to design and paint the murals. This project is a part of the city’s Fa├ºade Improvement Program.

The locations for the murals are as follows:

• 106 S. Main St. (the first mural at Urban Hare)
• 331 S. Main St. (TR’s Oriental)
• 301 S. Main St. (Loftis Printing)

First Mural: Urban Hare

The first mural will be located on the building that houses the retail store, Urban Hare. The artwork will feature a vintage European poster-like scene, depicting a female cyclist with flowers in her bike basket, a hare, and Paris Mountain in the background.

Second Mural: TR’s Oriental Restaurant

The second mural will adorn the side of the building that houses TR’s Oriental restaurant. The artwork will showcase the slogan, “Where Travelers Come to Rest,” along with scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, a lake, and puffy white clouds in the signature colors of Travelers Rest: blue, orange, and yellow.

Third Mural: Loftis Printing Co.

The third mural will be displayed on the side of the building that houses Loftis Printing Co. The artwork will resemble a vintage postcard, with giant letters spelling out “Travelers Rest.” Inside the letters, there will be illustrations representing Chico Bolin, a former Travelers Rest resident and Marine, as well as the Skyland Drive-In and the Spring Park Inn.
