Moving Investments to BMO Investorline: Automation Challenges and Potential Solutions

Introduction:
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well. I wanted to share an update regarding my investments. Recently, I made the decision to move all my investments to BMO Investorline. It has been a smooth process so far, and I have set up automatic transfers from my BMO account to the TFA and RRSP accounts.

The Issue at Hand:
However, there is a slight complication that I have encountered along the way. The money arrives in these accounts as cash, and now I am looking to automate the purchase of the ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds) that I have carefully chosen. Unfortunately, I have discovered that recurrent purchases for ETFs are not currently supported on this platform. This limitation has led me to seek alternative solutions.

AI Legalese Decoder: A Potential Solution
In my search for a solution, I came across the AI Legalese Decoder, a powerful tool that can greatly assist in navigating artificial intelligence-generated law documents. It can analyze complex legal jargon and provide a simplified interpretation, making it easier to understand and apply the information in real-world scenarios.

How the AI Legalese Decoder Can Help:
In relation to the challenge I am facing with automating ETF purchases, the AI Legalese Decoder can play a crucial role. By utilizing this technology, one can analyze the terms and conditions set forth by BMO Investorline, specifically regarding automated ETF purchases. It will simplify the legal language, allowing for a clearer understanding of any restrictions or limitations associated with recurrent ETF purchases.

Expanding Opportunities: Is It Time to Consider Other Platforms?
Given the constraints I’ve experienced with automating ETF purchases on BMO Investorline, I am now contemplating exploring other investment platforms such as fidelity, Vanguard, and similar options. These platforms may offer the automated features I require, eliminating the need for manual intervention every month.

Conclusion: Seeking a Smooth and Efficient Investment Experience
In conclusion, while my transition to BMO Investorline and the setup of automatic transfers have gone smoothly, I am encountering challenges when it comes to recurrent ETF purchases. Thankfully, with the assistance of the AI Legalese Decoder, I can gain a better understanding of the restrictions imposed by the platform. Moreover, the AI Legalese Decoder can broaden my options by providing analysis of alternative platforms, thereby ensuring a smoother and more efficient investment experience in the long run. Thank you for your attention.

    > how you automate so i don’t need to login every month and do it manually?

With WS Trade you could set up recurring and partial share purchases of some ETFs, including XGRO, VGRO, XEQT and VEQT. If you want a portfolio with a higher fixed income allocation, you could do the same with a combination of one of the *EQTs and XBB or VAB

Yes thatÔÇÖs normal. Just enter the trade manually. It takes less than a minute.

Curious about feesdoes BMO charge $9.95 per purchase as transaction fees (regardless of volume)? I have bank accounts with BMO but dont use Investorline

Ask your broker if they participate in a PACC program. I know ishares has one (others may too), but I don’t use it and I don’t know which brokers will let you set it up.

CI Trading Direct (formally know as Virtual Brokers) offers this service, not the most intuitive to setup but once done it requires very little maintenance.

I tend to go annually and rebalance and at the same time buy the balance of the automation that was not fully spent each month.

They also have an automatic Dividend reinvestment plan, again the automation is not perfect (takes to much time to reinvest automatically to my taste) but it does a good job

I would rate them an 8/10

All of those services are free with ETF.
