So long as you don’t have a wedding every year, I think you’ll be okay.

How is it affording $3300 mortgage on your income?

That seems like a huge mortgage on that income.

We make 180k a year base and our mortgage is $3300 also, it feels crazy expensive to us.

I’d put future raises toward savings. They are just 9% and 15% is recommended. Your wedding expense is over.

So are you renting out a room in your house or do you have two properties?

  • EmbarrassedBug6042

Man the income tax you pay is incredibly high? Are you not taking at least a deduction for your mortgage interest and your property tax?

Is the room rent cash? If you are reporting it, is their not a way to write off any expenses for the portion of the house you are renting out? Similar to the deduction made for a home office when you use it for a business? (Asking the tax experts on here about that one).

Hi all, just went through all my transactions from 2023 and here’s how I did.I’m glad I finally paid off my student loans, hopefully 2024 is a more leaner year where I can keep a tighter rein around restaurants and shopping. I could have easily saved a couple grand there over the course of a year…

I’m 31M, recently married (October 2023) living in Los Angeles, CA.

May I ask if which kind of template you used for this budget? I would like to put my numbers in and see what it comes up with.

  • designvegabond

Shouldn’t rent be on the other side or are you getting it from someone else?

  • 37347

Hmmm… I’m in almost a similar situation in terms of spending on mortgage and rent, wages as you too, except I max out my 401k and HSA.

    Madhev is this you ???

  • HarmoniousDiscussion

How do you only spend $258.33 a month on “Groceries”?

  • Alucard2051

Congrats on the wedding! Now that it’s done and over with, keep saving the same amount, just put it towards retirement

  • BluegrassBoy1

I think you should have an offshoot on the mortgage to show how much of that is equity and how much is Burnt on interest
