## Looking for a Car Loan and Considering Simplify

Hi all,

I’m currently in the process of looking for a car loan, and after thorough research, one of the best options I have come across is Simplify. They have connected me with Branded Finance, which operates under Avanti finance. However, after delving into their Google reviews, I was taken aback by the dismal rating of 1.5 stars based on 30 reviews.

I understand that online reviews can sometimes be skewed towards negative experiences, but the overwhelming negativity has left me uncertain about proceeding with Branded Finance. I would greatly appreciate any insights or experiences that others have had with Simplify or Branded Finance.

Any feedback or advice would be greatly valued.

Cheers,

Looking at their website, the interest rates are very high (8 – 16%) and there are a bunch of other costs and fees. Financing a car is one of the worst financial decisions someone can make in my opinion.

    Their fees look horrific

    $5.75 monthly fee
    $395 commission to the dealer
    $195 loan establishment fee
    $60 early discharge fee
    $15 21-days late payment surcharge
    $10 late payment fee
    Enforcement fees – at cost
    $10 security check fee

I personally would stay well clear. I mean… I believe: ‘buy an old clunker if you can’t afford better, but never, eer take out a car loan’. But ignoring that for a minute – get the cheapest loan you can. Those fees make it look to me like they’re deliberately profiting from people focusing on their interest rate rather than the total amount paid.

Let’s say we’re comparing two options, Westpac at 13.9%, and Branded also at 13.9%. We’ll say a $10k car for five years. I particularly dislike the $395 commission.

    Option 1: Cash – $10k
    Option 2: Westpac- $20k
    Option 3: Branded – $22k

So… $2,000 extra to borrow from a dodgier finance company rather than a bank.

Dunno, I’m struggling to avoid telling you to run away and stick to only ever paying cash for a car.
