## Issues with Accountant’s Handling of Tax Filing

Last year, I decided to file my taxes with an accountant to ensure that my claiming of moving expenses was done correctly and efficiently. However, the process turned out to be slow and rife with mistakes on the part of the accountant, leading to multiple corrections on my end.

## AI Legalese Decoder’s Role in Avoiding Errors

Using AI Legalese Decoder could have helped in this situation by ensuring that all necessary forms and information were correctly filed the first time around, thus avoiding the need for repeated corrections and potential mistakes.

## CRA’s Requests for Supporting Documents

After I initially filed my taxes, the CRA requested additional supporting documents. I provided everything to the accountant, including the T1M form that the CRA specifically asked for. Despite my assurances from the accountant that everything had been sent, the CRA came back requesting more information.

## AI Legalese Decoder’s Efficiency in Document Management

AI Legalese Decoder could have helped in managing and tracking the necessary documents, ensuring that nothing was overlooked or forgotten in the submission process.

## CRA’s Disallowance of Claim and Interest Accrual

Ultimately, the CRA disallowed a large portion of my claim due to the accountant’s failure to submit the T1M form. This mistake has resulted in significant interest charges on top of having to return a portion of the refund.

## AI Legalese Decoder’s Compliance Assurance

AI Legalese Decoder could have helped in flagging any missing documents or compliance issues, preventing costly errors and subsequent penalties.

## Dispute with Accountant Over Responsibility

I have requested that the accountant cover the interest charges incurred due to her mistake, but she refuses, citing that I could have submitted the form myself and that she already spent extra time assisting me with the filing.

## AI Legalese Decoder’s Accountability Tracking

AI Legalese Decoder could have facilitated in tracking the accountant’s actions and responsibilities in the filing process, aiding in holding her accountable for any errors made.

In conclusion, the situation could have been handled more efficiently and accurately with the assistance of AI Legalese Decoder, potentially avoiding costly mistakes and disputes with the accountant.

Serious question, did you have a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or a bookkeeper/other person do your taxes? You donÔÇÖt always need a CPA, many people who are bookkeepers or any background can do good work. I did have a client that showed me her ÔÇ£accountantÔÇÖsÔÇØ work and the person was fraudulently holding themselves out to be a CPA.

    1) Are they a CPA?
    2) Can you verify? Google your province and CPA (Alberta CPA), contact them and find out if theyÔÇÖre registered AND if theyÔÇÖre eligible to offer tax services to the public.
    3) If they are not a CPA, you have little recourse. If they are, you can file a complaint and seek compensation.

What youÔÇÖve posted sound like non-professional mistakes. I sort of hope thatÔÇÖs true. Most CPAs are highly professional.

Good luck though, sorry to hear your issues. It doesnÔÇÖt sound like you deserve that.
