Phones have been a solved problem for years now. They don’t really get any better.
This is something that I had an issue with for years, Equifax at least used to (maybe still does?) show a section of items which can’t be definitively confirmed as being applicable to you, but which might. I had a utility CCJ and some other crap in this section which were associated with my Dad (same surname and first/middle initials, but not same given names).
That should trigger a manual intervention and further investigation, but in reality it just auto-declines (path of least resistance).
I haven’t lived with my parents for a long time now, so there’s nothing on my file even distantly linked to that address (plus that specific CCJ would be long gone anyway), but I don’t remember how I got rid of it. I do remember Equifax and the utility company themselves were as much use as a fart in a hurricane.
Pretty much as soon as I moved out (and my own accounts therefore moved with me, with my Dad’s staying put) that drew some sort of line which was enough to stop it being an issue, as I didn’t have any further problems after that.
