# Seeking Legal Guidance on Child Support Payment

After conducting extensive research, I have come to the realization that the current legal system does not necessarily uphold due process when it comes to determining child support payments. Despite the fact that I have been covering a significant portion (approximately 90%) of my children’s expenses, the courts do not seem to acknowledge this.

Now, I find myself at a crossroads where I am capable of only affording one of two options – either paying for my own living expenses or continuing to financially support my children. If I prioritize my children, I risk losing my own living situation which ultimately impacts my ability to support them.

Prior to the child support mandate, I was successfully managing all household expenses while also setting aside savings each month. However, with the court-ordered child support payments, my financial situation has become unsustainable. As a result, I am considering taking drastic measures to express my refusal to comply with the child support order.

In my current circumstances, it seems inevitable that I will eventually face legal consequences for non-payment of child support. Thus, I am looking for advice on the most efficient way to communicate my decision to the courts and formally declare my intention to cease child support payments.

You can’t inform them at you won’t be paying they will just garnish everything you make…. unless you work under the table. They will intercept your tax returns, they will suspend your license and passport and jail you, if you don’t care about any of these things then just don’t pay. Arrears are forever they will never go away.

So if you decide to get a better paying job or you get an inheritance or a settlement they will take it away.

just a question…youd rather be convicted of a felony and then put into jail for a couple years.

Is having a felony record and other legal expenses much less than paying CS? Or is the end goal just dealing with everyday struggles gonna be more cost effective?

When was the CS order put in place?

    Why did you lose 50/50?

You realize this is many single mothers’ realities? Except we don’t have a choice of running off or they call that abandonment and they put us in jail. My son has deeply paid the price for the other parent not providing half the support. I have deeply paid the price for the rest of my life. We find solutions, you also need to find one.

I don’t like paying support either and I married a sahm. It is what it is and they take half my paycheque. If I lose my cheap low rent apartment I’ll be out on the street as I can’t afford today’s rents in my hometown. If that happens and I get evicted and my rent goes up 200% I will just offset that by paying the ex less support and go into arrears. The system is screwed and dosent take Into account today’s housing costs and rents at all. I’ll never be able to afford a town house or a condo ever as long as I pay support where the ex has a house. How’s that bloody fair? Don’t get married gents! It’s the only way to stop getting ruined.
