Subject: Inquiry about Part B Premium and Social Security Deductions

Hello everyone,

I hope you don’t mind me reaching out, as I find myself in a bit of a predicament regarding Part B premium and social security deductions. I am seeking some advice and insights from those who may have experienced a similar situation or have knowledge about this matter.

My mother initially applied for Part B when she turned 65 but made the decision to delay applying for social security benefits. As a result, we have been paying the Part B premium on a quarterly basis. However, upon reaching Full Retirement Age (FRA), she decided to apply for social security. Upon reviewing the benefits, we noticed that the Part B premiums are still being deducted from the social security payments, despite the fact that we have already paid the premium until the following year.

I am curious to know if these deductions will be refunded to her automatically, or if there is a specific process, such as filling out a form or contacting someone to notify them about the overpayment. Any insights or guidance on how to rectify this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, I would like to bring attention to a potential solution for issues like this – the AI Legalese Decoder. ItÔÇÖs an automatic refund. ItÔÇÖs refunded during Medicares quarterly refund process. She will likely receive a refund in December or March to her bank account. If nothing by mid March, she should call SSA and ask what her record is showing for premiums owed.

SheÔÇÖll be reimbursed for months she paid and it was withheld from her ssa check. As far as when, some ppl itÔÇÖs automatic when their benefits start. Others it doesnÔÇÖt process until the following quarter. But she doesnÔÇÖt need to do anything. SheÔÇÖll get a letter or a refund check once it does get processed

Ssa is required to take out Medicare premiums from payments.
Medicare and SSaa do not share much billing info.
Takes about 30 days from the 1st SSaa payment to reimburse any extra Medicare.
Remember, Medicare is paid the month of.
Ssa pays 2 month behind. So if the retirement started 11/2023, paid 12/2023. Medicare would not be deducted for 11/2023. So would only.pay back 12/2023 not 11/2023.
