## Importance of Registering Birth in the UK

Obviously, in order to get his passport, I had all necessary documentation such as his original Bulgarian birth certificate and translation; however, I didn’t register his birth with the UK.

I’m asking because, honestly, it’s a lot of money for me personally. Not only will I need to pay the registration costs, but also somehow get another copy of his birth certificate sent from Bulgaria and another translation, etc. So before I do so, do I really need to register it?

## Potential Impact of Not Registering Birth

He has his passport, an NHS number, and he’s enrolled in school. If I don’t register his birth, will there be any negative impact for him down the line?

His birth wouldnt need to be registered in the UK because he wasn’t born here,

If he has a British passport and British citizenship he will be fine

Apparently you can if you want to since 1983 – I was born before that and never been asked for my birth certificate with regards to work etc, my British passport has always been fine, it just states my place of birth as Hannover

Nothing more needs to be done. I’m in a similar situation, as long as they have the UK passports that’s everything.
