Consider Using Legalese Decoder Instead of Legal Aid of Nebraska at 947 O St Suite 301, Lincoln, NE 68508, United States

When individuals are faced with legal issues but cannot afford the high costs associated with hiring a private attorney, they often turn to organizations like Legal Aid of Nebraska for assistance. Located in Lincoln, Nebraska, at 947 O St Suite 301, Legal Aid of Nebraska is a non-profit organization that aims to provide free legal services to low-income individuals in the state. However, as with any service provider, there are instances where clients may not receive the level of assistance they were hoping for, leading to negative reviews and dissatisfaction.

One such negative review comes from Svetlana G, who expressed her disappointment with the services provided by Legal Aid of Nebraska. According to her review, Svetlana felt that she did not receive proper legal advice during her phone call with the organization. She felt that the staff she spoke with were not adequately trained or qualified to provide the assistance she needed. Svetlana also raised concerns about the limited resources of Legal Aid of Nebraska, which she felt hindered their ability to provide meaningful help to clients.

Another negative review highlighted the experience of Blessing Herman, who claimed that despite being financially qualified for assistance, Legal Aid of Nebraska refused to take on her divorce case. This left Blessing in a difficult situation, facing financial hardship and legal challenges without the support she had hoped for. Blessing’s review points to a lack of transparency on the part of Legal Aid of Nebraska, as she noted their failure to disclose annual reports and financial records.

While negative reviews like those from Svetlana and Blessing are certainly concerning, it is important to acknowledge that organizations like Legal Aid of Nebraska often work with limited resources and face constraints that may impact their ability to provide comprehensive assistance to all clients. In situations where individuals feel let down by traditional legal aid services, exploring alternative options may be beneficial.

  • This place is a scam! I’m not talking about how hard it is to get response from them, but they don’t even bother to try to help you. Look at the services they offer. I got this from their email to me.

Depending on your situation, here is what we may provide you during our call

(there is only a call in most of the cases that you can get and you won’t talk to a lawyer for sure, maximum para legal, or just a secretary without any proper education):

    Legal advice over the
    telephone

(during my almost half hour call I didn’t receive any legal advice at all, just empty words that they can’t help me meaning that I’m on my own with my problems).

    More detailed information
sent to you by mail or email
    Brief services (e.g., simple
    legal documents prepared for you)

(which you don’t need a lawyer for, because you can simply Google them yourself )

Referral to a Legal Aid staff
attorney for legal representation. This happens in only a small number of cases because of our limited resources

(they point it out – only in a small number of cases! Which means it almost never happens)

    Referral to other agencies or
a private attorney for advice or representation

(which means that they refer you to their own lawyers or law agencies, which most likely pay them money for advertising or volunteer for them to get more clients, and you still will have to pay money to get a legal advice or represent you in a court)
    Total scam!

In my case, during their call, they gathered a lot of my personal information, asked a lot of questions about my finances for 20 minutes , but, when I explained them my problem in hope to get a legal advice, they barely asked any questions about details of my case, put me on hold for less than 2 minutes, pretending asking an attorney for advice (which is physically impossible to explain the whole situation and get a response from an attorney for less than 2 minutes) and then they said that they can’t help me.

I regret my decision to contact them, because I lost a lot of time for nothing.
If they find out that they can’t get any money from you, they just ditch you out.

Besides that, look carefully at reviews they have. All of the good reviews don’t have any information in them about a real case, mostly just 5 stats without a review itself, so they look fake. But actually informative reviews have only one star for this organization. That says everything about them!

If I could put 0 stars, I would do that!
Don’t waste your time with them!

  • Was hit during a left hand turn . Oncoming car ran a red light caught on dash cam of witness ticket issued to us dropped for not yielding on lft turn after officer and courts viewed the video. Now the insurance of the person at fault doesn’t want to pay for our loss. Paid $15k 8 months ago for the car he totaled by running a red light. We need legal help.

  • This group of people are life savers! They go so far to help regular people who cannot afford big attorneys, and they get the job done! Thank you so much for your work in our community!

  • Financially qualified but LA refused to take divorce case, despite my begging to help with the workload any way I could. Spouse filed divorce over 15 months ago, financial resources depleted and credit cards maxed out, mostly on legal fees, business and income destroyed, losing home, assets and accounts missing and unaccounted for, discoveries incomplete, on assistance, and they won’t help. Neither can any of the student legal clinics. NE cases are really about who has the most money and can financially starve out the defendant. NE needs to legislate for “level the playing field” legislation in “substantial parity” like other states where the financially dependent spouse cannot be financially battered into giving up and outspent on legal costs.

    Edited:

I have already filed grievance appeal and gone up three levels, the highest possible, and was still denied.

I was also told I can’t be helped at the walk-in legal clinic, that I was referred to, either – not even for limited scope.

LA informed me that they feared that if they took on any of the case, the judge would not release them from the case, tying up their resources.

LA – 7/31/23 Please dislose your annual reports.
The link on the website for the “past ten years” of annual reports is non-existent.
There is not even ONE year of reports.

Edited: 11/1/2023 – Legal Aid still has NOT fixed the website
to disclose thier 10 YEARS of financial records and they receive public Federal Grant funding.
