A box of Pals is $60 AUD.

I’m an immigrant so I absolutely get the whole grass is greener thing and I’m currently in Brisbane for the winter but personally I wouldn’t want to live here. The commuter belt sprawl is grim around the main cities, each surburban shopping area looks like every other one and it all feels like wannabe America. Weather is perfect in winter if you enjoy being outside but it would be miserable for me in the hotter months. As for the news, all the same stuff about crime, cost of living, housing crisis. The world has been through a lot over the past few years and I understand people are pissed for various reasons but NZ is still hands down the place for me.

  • Tbana

Lived and worked in both.NZ is better for me.

Quality of life is better here. Each to thier own. Happy people ain’t gonna be bitching on internet though.

  • Gollums-Crusty-Sock

    More mellow climate

  • LobsterAgile415

Australia has a harsher, more cutthroat environment. My friend said her boss called her and her colleague up, gave them their performance review in front of both of them, and then fired the other girl and told my friend to increase her performance. She was a high performer already. People can be less warm and friendly and there’s a higher level of racism in some places.

There’s also a higher level of personal grooming in the Gold Coast cause everyone has plastic surgery. Also if you get ripped off by small company, they can dissolve overnight so you can’t take them to court. I couldn’t find anyone who wasn’t ripped off by business.

  • irishchris101

Pro’s are the outdoor life is better. Found when I lived in Oz that outside of going to the beach or a shopping mall, there wasn’t much to do. The Bush in Queensland isn’t very welcoming.

Think IT jobs pay relatively similar. Probably a little less here but cost of living is slightly less.

Also prefer kiwi culture. Only down side is that Kiwis complain alot, and many (who have never left nz) are convinced its the worst place on earth. Exhausting

  • nomad1908

I work in healthcare. Less racism in NZ or at least more subtle than Australia

  • AveryWallen

If you have money in either, it’s a matter of weather preference which will be the biggest factor.

I detest the heat, so Australia no good to me in that aspect.

I like the South Island weather, the cold, drizzle and occasional snow. It just suits my mood better. Too much sun and sand and happy – no thanks.

  • FlightBunny

Slightly slower pace of life and less hustling, but personally I think that’s bad as it makes NZ like a retirement village where people have no drive or ambition.

NZ is nice geographically, but as someone said, it’s much nicer to be a earning in Aus and come here for a holiday.

  • oobakeep

    Less Australians in NZ

  • NoWarning____

Possibly less competition for senior roles because everyoneÔÇÖs already moved to aus

  • thematrixnz

I prefer the culture in NZ myself…but f working more hours just to live…Australia more opportunity

  • Willuknight

    Less cunts

  • Stunning-Sea-959

Speaking as a migrant to both countries I would say the people. Kiwis in my opinion much nicer and more genuine.

Many Ozzies are superficially friendly. Big smiles, but often itÔÇÖs a front. How they feel is very different. In workplace relationships are more transactional (and seem number of examples of bad employeers weaseling out of promises or commitments)

More money, better night life in many cases better career options. But the people and out door environment is why I am bringing up my family in NZ

  • gerousone

Easier to shine in NZ. I turn up to my office job, like actually go into the office which is rare. Smile and be happy and youÔÇÖve instantly outplayed 3/4 of the people in the office. Too many clever ppl in Aus

  • thematrixnz

Aussie has its challenges but i reckon unless have a property in NZ or bank of ma and pa, NZ hard to get ahead, Aussie more opportunity

  • thematrixnz

    Financially?
    Sweet FA

I earnt a fair bit more in oz

Ive since moved to Mexico, I value time freedom, working much less, doing what I love helping others and being able to earn USD sometimes in Mexico makes it financially worth it

  • JumpingTortle

You don’t have the stress of what to spend disposable income on in New Zealand.

  • NahItsFineBruh

    Not many, if any.

  • thewestcoastexpress

If you make a lot of money, income taxes in nz are much lower.

Way more affordable to live next to the beach in nz in a major centre than in Australia.

  • Brave-Insurance-2374

None. IÔÇÖm moving to Australia in a couple weeks

  • 77_dino

    Bad weather and worse pay

  • Peneroka

No snakes or crocodiles to kill you. On a more serious note, Australia is a favourite destination for migrants from all over the world, so youÔÇÖll be competing for jobs with many other talented migrants.

  • witchcapture

    Better internet, more interesting scenery

  • PINKunic0rnFUN

Less snakes and large spiders, frogs in toilets etc

  • giob1966

No animals can kill you. Stays light later in the evening in summer. Not as ungodly hot.

  • PatrickBrookingSmith

    There are less Australians here

  • DRK-SHDW

    vaping is legal

  • Sea-Needleworker-308

Lived in Sydney and Melbourne for 19 years. CanÔÇÖt wait to move back soon. Aus is good for starting careers and earning money but with plenty of remote work possibilities now, rather come back to NZ and get a much nicer and larger property for a lot less of said money.

  • FendaIton

Property can be cheaper, but yeah 10% gst vs 15% and super is 10% vs 3%

  • scondola

Are there any? We’re moving to Aus in the coming months

  • unit1_nz

No snakes, spiders, crocs, killer jellyfish

  • cherokeevorn

Less Aussies, less wankers, less rasicism, couldn’t pay me enough to live there again.

  • kn696

    Far fewer Australians

  • San_Ra

    Less Australians??
