Crime spree focused on small, local businesses

EmilyonÔÇÖs Jefferson County burglary spree began on Oct. 31, 2022, at Evergreen Cleaners and Parkside Cafe, where he damaged the front door and stole cash.

On Nov. 2, 2022, he broke into Roberts Italian Restaurant, as well as other businesses in the Upper Bear Creek Road Shopping Center, including Everbean Coffee, Coal Mine Dragon, and Bistro Del Lago. He damaged the storefronts and stole cash.

Between Nov. 7-8, 2022, Emilyon burglarized three more locations: Bear Cub Coffee and Pub, Mac Nation, and Coal Creek Canyon Coffee. In each of these burglaries, he smashed a window or glass door to gain entry, then stole cash.

On Nov. 13, 2022, Emilyon is accused of burglarizing the Kwik Mart and Canyon Liquors, where he stole from the cash drawers and caused damage.

On Nov. 25, 2022, Emilyon burglarized GuidoÔÇÖs Pizza, Genesee Pub and BBQ, and Buffalo Moon. The front doors were broken, cash was missing, and the damage to Genesee PubÔÇÖs cash register was approximately $5,000.

On Nov. 28, 2022, Emilyon again burglarized businesses in each otherÔÇÖs vicinity, including QÔÇÖs Pub, Garlic Knot, Alterations Plus, Las Dalias Restaurant, and Salon Nevaeh. Emilyon stole items from Salon Nevaeh and cash from Las Dalias Restaurant. Surveillance video showed him leaving Garlic Knot empty-handed, and nothing was stolen from Alterations Plus. In each case, the damage to the doors was valued at approximately $1,200.

Finally, on Dec. 2, 2022, Emilyon is accused of burglarizing Blackbird Caf├®, Kittredge General Store, and SaBella pizza restaurant.

Officers were searching for a 2008 silver Ford Escape, and one was discovered near the burglary. Officers contacted and observed the driver, Emilyon, who had broken glass in his hair and eyebrows, the DAÔÇÖs office said. Cash was later found in the glove box, along with a cash box underneath the passenger seat and a pair of gloves underneath the driverÔÇÖs seat.

Burglary spree interrupted by gambling in Black Hawk

Investigators determined Emilyon had gambled at Black Hawk casinos since before his burglary spree, beginning Sept. 23, 2022, through Dec. 2, 2022. They also discovered he had lost $9,800 while gambling at the casinos.

As a result of the plea agreement, Emilyon faced a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, which prosecutors advocated for. He received 12 years, plus three years of parole.
