**American meat processor, Tyson Foods, announced a recall of approximately 30,000lbs (13,608kg) of chicken nuggets after discovering metal pieces in the product.**

The voluntary recall comes as a precautionary measure, with the affected nuggets being produced at one facility and distributed to nine US states such as Alabama, California, and Illinois.

The US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has received one report of a minor oral injury related to the consumption of the contaminated nuggets. Individuals concerned about injuries or illnesses are advised to seek medical assistance.

These dinosaur-shaped “Fun Nuggets” have a “used by” date set for September 4, 2024. Tyson stated that they are recalling the product out of an abundance of caution, as a few consumers have already reported finding small, pliable metal pieces in their food. The company urges customers who purchased the affected product to discard it and contact them for further assistance.

This is not the first time Tyson, the largest meat producer in the US, has faced a recall situation. Last November, the company recalled ground beef due to the presence of “mirror-like” materials, and in 2022, Tyson closed several chicken processing plants due to decreased demand. However, as the prices of beef and pork increased, consumers turned to more affordable poultry options, leading to a surge in demand for Tyson’s chicken products.
