N.C. A&T Appoints Sean Johnson as Professor and Director of the Center of Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEE&I)

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 25, 2023) ÔÇô North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has chosen Sean Johnson as the new professor and director of the Center of Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEE&I) after conducting a nationwide search. With this appointment, the university aims to enhance its entrepreneurial and innovative initiatives.

In his capacity as director, Johnson will assume complete responsibility for all administrative, entrepreneurial, research, and development functions within the interdisciplinary center. His role involves overseeing the collaboration of faculty, staff, and members of the university community.

Prior to joining N.C. A&T, Sean Johnson served as the senior project manager in the Workforce Development Center at Cincinnati State Technical & Community College from 2019 onwards. Noteworthy achievements during his tenure include successfully launching and leading the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business initiative. This program allowed entrepreneurs to gain access to education, capital, and a supportive network for scaling their businesses.

He earned a B.A. in banking and finance from Morehouse College, an M.M. in finance from Northwestern University, and an M.A. in ministerial leadership from Wesley Seminary.

As the new director of CEE&I, Johnson’s primary objective is to establish the center as a transformative hub for the entire university and the community. He plans to achieve this by forging partnerships and developing innovative programs aligned with A&T’s strategic plan, Preeminence 2030. Through strategic collaborations and impactful initiatives, CEE&I aims to become the driving force behind entrepreneurship and innovation in both the university and the wider Greensboro community.

CEE&I serves as an interdisciplinary community dedicated to enhancing A&T’s entrepreneurial capacity. By offering exceptional entrepreneurship education, cutting-edge research opportunities, acceleration and incubation programs, and impactful community and corporate engagement initiatives, CEE&I welcomes students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines.
