Segal has been making and selling Challahs locally and nationally through her business “Peppelah Challah” for a few years now. So I’m going to bake Challahs, and I’m going to donate 100% of what I make to the Magen David Adom, which is the first responders,” Segal said. Segal is selling her original Challahs for $10. Since posting that she was doing this just a few days ago, Segal has raised almost $1,800 by selling Challahs for $10. “This is for Israel. This isn’t for me. This is for my homeland, Israel, and for the people of Israel,” Segal said. It hasn’t come without backlash, though. Segal said since posting on social media what she was doing, she’s lost hundreds of followers on social media and received dozens of antisemitic comments. “It’s just, why? All I want to do is support people who are injured and hurt and affected by this terrorist attack,” Segal said. Segal added, “I’m a proud Jew, I support Israel, and if people have a problem with that, so be it. It’s not my problem. That’s who I am. So that’s why I’m doing this.” Segal said she’s also received a lot of support, even from non-Jewish people in the community. “For me, it’s giving me hope. I have felt helpless and ever since I started doing this on Wednesday, I feel like I’m doing something. I am standing with my people the best that I can,” Segal said.
