Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce Celebrates the Opening of Left Bank Market and Bloom Boutique

The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a celebration for the grand opening of two new shops in the area, Left Bank Market and Bloom. The event will take place on Thursday, November 16 at 5 p.m.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will commence at Bloom, located at 39 Broadway, followed by a short walk across the street to Left Bank Market at 36 Broadway in Saranac Lake. The public, as well as local business members, are invited to attend and join in the excitement surrounding the recent openings of these two establishments.

Bloom, a trendy women’s clothing and accessories boutique, is owned and operated by Valerie Pawlewicz. Although she grew up in Plattsburgh, she spent most of her life in the Washington, D.C. and Annapolis, Maryland areas. Pawlewicz and her husband, Leo Pickens, have been regular visitors to the North Country for the past 20 years. They officially made the Adirondacks their permanent residence in 2017.

Pawlewicz expressed her enthusiasm for becoming part of the revitalization of downtown Saranac Lake, which she considers to be the heart of the Adirondacks. She aims to offer a unique selection of women’s clothing and accessories at Bloom, while also complementing the existing high-quality offerings of other downtown businesses such as Georgeanne Gaffney Studio, TF FinneganÔÇÖs, Academy and Main. The goal is for Bloom to offer something different, rather than duplicate what is already available.

Left Bank Market, which opened on September 1, is situated next to the Left Bank Cafe. The market specializes in unique products that are often served in the cafe and are not easily found at local grocery stores. These specialties include meats, spreads, pastas, oils, condiments, and freshly baked croissants. The market is owned and operated by Chef Jarrad Lang and Brianna Scanlon, and its operating hours are Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lang, a native of the Adirondacks, attended Paul Smith’s College for culinary arts and has training experience in France and Boston. He has worked in various local restaurants and resorts over the past 23 years, including the Hotel Saranac and most recently the executive chef of the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid. Scanlon, originally from central New York, also attended Paul Smith’s for culinary arts and chose to remain in the area.

Chamber Executive Director Rachel Karp expressed excitement for the opening of both Bloom and Left Bank Market. She emphasized that the ribbon-cutting ceremony serves as a great way to kick-off the holiday shopping season and highlights the Support Local campaign. Valerie, Jarrad, and Brianna are active supporters of the Saranac Lake community, and this event provides an opportunity for the community to show their support in return by shopping at these new establishments.

The ribbon cutting will begin promptly at 5 p.m. For any inquiries or additional information, please contact 518-891-1990 or visit www.slareachamber.org/events.
