Deliveroo Partners with Multiverse to Support Skills Training for Small Businesses

Deliveroo has joined forces with Multiverse, a tech start-up, to contribute more than £200,000 of its unused apprenticeship levy to help organizations enhance the skillsets of their employees. This funding has been allocated to over ten small businesses, including fintech and consulting start-ups, empowering them to further develop their data and digital capabilities. Some of the beneficiaries include Soldo, a tech start-up simplifying employee expense management, Navenio, a pioneer in indoor mapping technology, and Eebz, a provider of analytics that assist retailers in boosting sales.

This collaboration comes at a time when new data highlights a growing skills gap in the UK. Government statistics indicate that in 2022, over a third (36%) of all vacancies were deemed skills shortage vacancies, a significant increase from 22% in 2017. Additionally, 15% of employers reported at least one staff member with a skills gap, slightly up from 13% in 2017.

The initiative by Deliveroo to support skills training builds upon previous efforts. Earlier this year, Deliveroo partnered with Enterprise Nation to offer tailored courses to small and medium-sized restaurants across the UK. These courses covered topics such as talent acquisition, digital marketing, social media, sustainability, and financial management. Moreover, Deliveroo’s Rider Academy grants self-employed riders and their families access to over 700 free online courses, spanning various subjects such as CV building, design, marketing, entrepreneurship, and coding skills.
