By providing scholarships for primary care providers working in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), the partnership will ensure that clinicians serving underserved communities receive the necessary training and certification in lifestyle medicine.
One of the significant initiatives under this partnership is ACLM’s National Training Initiative, which will offer scholarships to at least one primary care provider at each of the nation’s 1,400 FQHCs. Furthermore, ACLM’s “Lifestyle Medicine and Food as Medicine Essentials” online course, which is CME/CE-accredited, will be available to tens of thousands of clinicians across the United States. The ACU is committed to advocating for underserved communities and promoting health equity. Consequently, supporting and developing UIM medical professionals is crucial for ensuring quality healthcare for historically underserved communities.
ACLM’s Health Equity Achieved through Lifestyle Medicine (HEAL) Initiative Scholarship Program, which opens annually in January, will now be available to ACU members who are UIM clinicians. This scholarship program prepares participants for certification by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (ABLM). Since its launch in 2020, this scholarship has benefitted nearly 60 UIM medical professionals, with a pass rate of approximately 70% on the board exam.
