sounds though, i do think she has to organize it through the finnish goverment as she is not a dutch citizen yet, unless you are married?

quick search online i find following, [https://www.kela.fi/disability-allowance-for-adults-amount-and-payment](https://www.kela.fi/disability-allowance-for-adults-amount-and-payment)

so looks like the finnish gouverment can organize something, i find it rough to believe because she has never worked after 18+ that she doesnt get anything even when psychologist confirmed her PTSD.

    Goodluck and take care.

IÔÇÖm afraid this is the case in most well off countries. The ÔÇÿnewÔÇÖ country will not support you if you havenÔÇÖt paid into the pot and the ÔÇÿoldÔÇÖ country will not support you if you have lived abroad for more than a very short trip. ItÔÇÖs why itÔÇÖs very difficult for disabled people to emigrate.

I don’t know about your question, but: most places that offer mental health treatment also have social workers to help with figuring out finances and other help. Could she ask her treatment team if they offer something similar?

She might not be entitled to benefits in Finland anymore. Usually moving abroad ends social coverage here when you move for more than six months. She should apply coverage in where you live. If she moves back to Finland she needs to apply benefit coverage again. More here:

    Edit:

I’d advice to call international department to get confirmation
    “International situations +358 20 634 0200 (open weekdays 10ÔêÆ15)”.

In order to qualify for WIA, you need to have had an income first. In the Netherlands, she will not receive disability.

Why should the dutch taxpayer pay for a possible lifetime of disability if she is a citizen of an equal (or more) wealthy country? I think Finland should step up because she deserves the help though….

I don’t know the specifics but is their a way for her to claim early/temporary retirement? or is this the same as disability in the netherlands?

  • Character_Smile7493

Congrats on your progress so far and good luck.

Have you called the gemeente and the UWV about benefits when she is deemed not fit to work? Usually that decision is made by the UWV taking the diagnosis in to account, but having CPTSD doesn’t mean they will see her as automatically not fit to work. She could still be expected to work a certain percentage. Where have you got information up to this point?

The only option in the Netherlands would be WAJONG (assuming your income / wealth is too high for bijstand). But I donÔÇÖt know how it works for people who immigrated to the Netherlands.

Besides, WAJONG has become a very strict benefit. YouÔÇÖd have to pretty much be unable to work, ever.
To me it doesnÔÇÖt seem like the diagnosis you mentioned would be enough, unless itÔÇÖs an exceptionally bad case (that can be proven to have existed the day she turned 18).
