All tv providers have to have a skinny package mandated by the CRTC for $25. They don’t tell you about it. It’s just basic on bell I get CTV and CBC and American channels. You can also add a la carte channels. I pay $32 including tax for skinny and 1 extra channel

Rogers has a program called connected for success.
Although they don’t have pure TV package, so you must at least have internet + TV bundle.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to give her a tablet to do facetime through internet with distant family as well.
This does require a proof of low income such as GIS, take a look at eligibility and you can print an authorization form so a family member can manage the account for her.

Connected For Success through Rogers is very good ( [https://www.rogers.com/connected-for-success](https://www.rogers.com/connected-for-success) ). There’s a caveat where MeTV is not available for some reason, but my mum survived the transition. The pick 20 channels package can be supplemented by channels and theme packs from the regular Rogers catalogue. Depending on what she watches, she may be better off with just a few packs and this will be pretty inexpensive.
The $25 phone plan can be substituted for a landline which is nice.
The basic internet is pretty inexpensive.
There are no contracts and when you phone for help, we’ve always gotten a very patient, seasoned Rogers or Shaw employee who is assigned specifically to this program. Not having to deal with being transferred through call centers when she wants help or a channel reassigned is a big deal.
I pay $24.95 for basic TV cable with Bell Canada.
Bell has a basic pkg….just local channels..for $35/month..perfect for my 86 yr old mother.
Based on the “pure tv for seniors” title I thought that this was going to be a complaint about smutty content.
If they’re not in an urban area, Bell Satellite might be the cheapest. I pay $80/month but get pretty close to everything and I use it at my cottage and my primary home.
If you / grandmother have a smart TV sometimes those have the basic channels, game shows, news etc as “live TV” options.
Essentially it’s a streaming service with no accounts required and it’s the same shows pretty much all day long.
Possibly an option, but if she’s into watching the news or staying current with a show season I’m not certain how live it truly is (mostly reruns).
Virgin TV on a fire stick is a great option.
Telus has the internet for good program where you can get tv for $30 if bundled with internet, which I know she doesn’t need but is only $10 at the lowest option. So she could get it for $40 total.
They also offer a 24/7 medical alert service for $20 a month. I see you have plenty of other good advice but just wanted to mention it as well.
Rogers does have a TV service that is $25/month plus $20/month equipment rental then HST so it’s just over $50 a month. They hide it pretty well, it’s called Ignite Starter TV.
IPTV $99 for the year. Over 10 years have saved over $10,000. Think about it.
We pay $98 for unlimited 250mbps internet and telus TV and home phone all together (2 yr contract)!
The TV is $16 with 2 PVRs
She would enjoy TV much more with the PVR and some streaming capability to watch pluto TV, Tubi, etc

If she has internet get an IPTV, its ~$100 upfront and then usually 10$ a month. Its a grey area I believe in terms of if its legal or not, and not always perfect but much better option and older relatives who are 80+ can use the remote well enough without issue.
