Detroit’s “Black Tech Saturday’s” Concludes First Year with a Holiday Showcase

Detroit’s “Black Tech Saturday’s” concluded its first year with a holiday showcase to round out 2023. The event featured exhibits from twenty-two Detroit-based artists and 28 Detroit tech founders, taking place across three floors of Newlab in Detroit’s Corktown. Black entrepreneurs utilized the opportunity to showcase their company’s work and network with like-minded business owners, fostering a sense of community in the growing tech industry.

The holiday showcase also included a kids section with robots and VR exhibits, adding a family-friendly element to the event. Michael Polk, a Detroit-born entrepreneur and owner of the retail investment application, Stock Pal, Inc., was among the participants at the showcase. He emphasized the importance of events like “Black Tech Saturday’s” in providing a platform for tech professionals to connect, share ideas, and break down silos that often exist within the industry.

With over 150 attendees, the event served as a celebration of Detroit’s burgeoning tech community, highlighting the talent and innovation present in the city.
