Free Summer AI Training Helps Small Businesses Boost Efficiency

Every week, business owners find themselves overwhelmed with new technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI). Understanding how to use AI effectively can be the key to saving time, reducing risk, and keeping businesses competitive.

AI Training for Small Business Owners

Michael Browne, the founder of Rise Above, has made it his mission to help small business owners navigate the complexities of AI. Many of these owners want to use AI but aren’t sure where to begin. Browne provides straightforward guidance on how AI can save time and improve efficiency. His goal is to empower these individuals to make informed decisions.

This AI training series runs from July through mid-August, covering six different locations. It offers sessions that cater to owners who are completely new to AI and those who have dabbled in it but seek clarity. There’s even a virtual option available, allowing owners in multiple counties to participate online. For Spanish-speaking business owners, sessions will be offered in their language, promoting inclusivity.

Scheduled Training Sessions

Here are the scheduled training sessions for the AI 101 series:

  • Richland County: July 13, Richland Center Community Center, Richland, 8:30 to 11 a.m.
  • Green County: July 21, Green County Family YMCA, Monroe, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (English), 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. (Spanish)
  • Lafayette County: July 27, Lafayette County Ames Multi-Purpose Building, Darlington, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (English), 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. (Spanish)

  • Grant County: Aug. 17, Huff Family Innovation Center, Platteville, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

For those who want to delve deeper into AI applications, a follow-up series, titled “AI 201,” is scheduled for late August, with dates to be confirmed.

Importance of Local Partnerships

Collaboration is key in bringing valuable training to small business owners. Nora Roughen-Schmidt, a business consultant with the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC), advocates for this program. She emphasizes Browne’s remarkable ability to simplify complex concepts while providing actionable tools.

The training sessions are offered at no cost to local entrepreneurs, a direct result of strong partnerships between Rise Above and the SBDC. This collaboration not only provides high-quality expertise but also connects business owners to ongoing consulting and resources. The result is a set of opportunities that can empower small businesses to grow and succeed.
