**Paranoia about Working and 100% P&T Status: Can I Still Work as a Truck Driver?**

Lingering concerns and uncertainties have arisen regarding my ability to maintain a 100% P&T (Permanent and Total) disability rating while still engaging in work. After seeking clarification from ChatGPT, it was mentioned that the 100% P&T designation is contingent upon an individual’s capacity to work, leading to the possibility of being evaluated by the VA if one is able to maintain employment, particularly in a profession such as truck driving. Despite the perception of driving as a straightforward occupation, there is a looming apprehension regarding the potential repercussions of this employment choice on my 100% P&T status. Moreover, there is a lingering fear of potential reevaluation by the VA due to a substantial income of over $100,000 annually from employment.

Amidst these concerns, the prospect of earning additional income before transitioning into retirement without jeopardizing the 100% P&T status weighs heavily on my mind. The 100% P&T designation was granted following my separation from the military, yet I have not enrolled in VA healthcare as I rely on Medicaid for medical appointments. This further complicates the situation and raises questions about potential impacts on my disability status.

In view of this complex predicament, I am eager to explore potential avenues for safeguarding my 100% P&T status while still pursuing employment opportunities. The reassurance and guidance regarding the potential implications of earning income and utilizing medical resources outside of the VA system would be immensely beneficial in navigating this situation effectively. Any insights or advice offered in this regard would be greatly appreciated to alleviate the prevailing uncertainties. Your assistance in addressing these concerns and clarifying the potential consequences of these circumstances would be invaluable.

Step 1: Stop asking ChatGPT questions about VA disability

Unless you’re TDIU, you can work while 100% P&T.

When people ask this type of stuff, I want to just

  • Dangerous-Golf3831

Yes, you can make $110,000+ as a truck driver and still keep your 100% P&T. Only people with TDIU (Total Disability Individual Unemployability) have income caps

  • edtb

You can make a million a year. Look at some senators and politicians

    You’re good. No worries.

  • Synseer83

  • darrevan

I mean I am 100% PT and make around $240,000 a year and it is not an issue. I just found a job that accommodates my disabilities.

  • _ahandfulofdust

To be fair to OP, I spent about three years full of paranoia about possibly losing benefits before realizing I was as safe as any other veteran. So as everyone else has said, yep, you can make whatever as long as you’re P&T.

But yeah, definitely don’t rely on ChatGPT for anything outside the most basic, general questions haha

  • BuckFuddy82

Yes you can. To put it in perspective, the doctor I talked to at the V.A. today was 100 percent P&T. That doctor makes well over 110k per year.

  • Chutson909

I know someone making 240k and is 100%. As long as you arenÔÇÖt TDIU youÔÇÖre good.

  • SnooMuffins7396

I’m 100% P&T and make that on my civilian job.

    Just smile and wave.

  • Big_League227

Damn, schools better start educating people about what ChatGPT is, how it works, and why you can’t use it for everything. And maybe some nonprofit can put together PSAs to educate everyone else.

  • TemporaryInside2954

Who wouldÔÇÖve guessed that ChatGPT does have all the answers ƒñÀƒÅ┐ÔÇìÔÖé´©Å

I hope so because I make more than that ƒÿé

  • Mission_Engineering5

Can confirm. I am 100% P&T, receive my military retirement, and make 120k at my day job. Over 200k to do pretty much the same thing I did in the military. I disclosed my employment and retirement when I did my VA claim and it didnÔÇÖt seem to matter.

  • RazBullion

You can make infinite without being re-evaluated. It’s not financially dependent.

  • Worriedandnumb

You can make $1mil. DoesnÔÇÖt matter

  • Delicious_Cow7476

You don’t have an income limit on p&t. You have an income limit with tdiu. Which is the national poverty limit. Unless… you have a sheltered work space. For example, I have one friend who records and streams tontent for video games. Last year he earned nearly six figures and is tdiu. But his work environment is sheltered because he can pick and choose when he wants to work. Another guy I know is tdiu and owns a business. He hired someone to manage his business. So he can keep his tdiu status.

  • Mindful_of_Me

The wealthiest vets IÔÇÖve ever known were 100% P&T. Freed up their time so they could make real money and gave them extra money to invest. They usually have their ducks in a row as well with regards to claims. The poorest vets were closer to 0% than 100% and their ducks are pretty messed up. ThereÔÇÖs actually a positive correlation (and associated causation). VBA might scrutinize your claims if you were not brining in a great income while 100% P&T as youÔÇÖd be in the minority. You never want to be there unless youÔÇÖre a top %1 earner.

  • MannBurrPig

You can work just fine, brother. The total and permanent means that you have static conditions that the VA does not bieve will improve.

  • Blkdth1989

Hey OP. The people talking about only those with TDIU have income caps are correct.

Now, if you are rated for something like bad back and work a job that you shouldn’t be able to do with that rating, then the VA might look at you funny. Basically, know what your percentages mean, and you’ll be fine.

  • Stephanie-Steph

You use Medicaid? ThatÔÇÖs for low income families. You would not qualify for Medicaid.

  • NprocessingH1C6

I learned that 100% makes life 100% more difficult for you as compared to a nominal person. So if you can make that money with the cards stacked against you, you definitely deserve it, no questions asked.

  • Ok-Scheme-1815

Why are you asking ChatGPT serious questions? It’s not a real AI. It’s a predictive text algorithm. It lies/hallucinates all the time.

You’re literally better off typing a question into Google and going from there, even if Google is pretty crap these days.

  • jamesvzfighter

Multiple police officers i met are 100 percent working full time. Even with PTSD claims.

  • LifeLess0n

Yes. As long as your P&T. I make over 6 figures.

  • Beginning_Fee_7992

making 100K a year is not a lot of income. Im sure you have nothing to worry about. That is pretty much middle class.

  • Jbullish_9622

This is becoming a daily trend asking these dumb fear mongering questions. Make it stop! ƒñªƒÅ¥ÔÇìÔÖé´©Å

  • Fuck_ur_feeelings

    I do. A lot more.

  • Nice_Subject_1243

Please stop asking questions that you should already research you know the answer is on because this makes you like you have a mental handicap and I hope we don’t this is a common sense question

  • oldarmyguy123

How do you get Medicaid with 100 P&T? I get SSDI but only 80% VA because they wonÔÇÖt pull their head out of their ass. Anyway, I applied for Medicaid a while back and they denied me because they counted military benefits as too much money. Well, trust 80% VA w/ a family of 5 is bare minimum. Poverty level
