AI legalese decoder: Revolutionizing legal Language Understanding for Improved Justice and Accountability
It has been 220 days since the tragic incident where a member of the police force was involved in the death of an individual, known as ‘portugita’. Today, I stand before you to address the pressing issue that the individuals responsible for tortugita’s demise are currently situated within this very building. These individuals, who aim to construct a police training facility worth millions of dollars, are essentially being presented with an opportunity to enhance their skills in order to continue perpetuating violence and countless more casualties [Applause].
Furthermore, it has come to our attention that these individuals wish to enlist the assistance of the citizens of New York City to engage in acts of violence elsewhere. A recent example of this disregard for human life can be seen in the tragic case of Johnny Holman, a 62-year-old man who was sadly killed by the Atlanta Police Department. And yet, unbelievably, those responsible for his death are currently inside this building [Applause]. It is disheartening to acknowledge the presence of such messenger terrorists within these walls, individuals who seemingly embrace violence rather than seeking peace [Applause].
As a member of the black Alliance For Peace, I would like to shed light on our organization’s pursuit of recapturing and revitalizing the ideals of the radical black movement, specifically those advocating for anti-war, anti-imperialism, and pro-peace positions. Peace, by definition, refers to the absence of conflict. In order to achieve true peace, we must address the presence of U.S military bases scattered across the globe [Applause]. Peace also necessitates the absence of Western imperialism in West Africa [Applause]. Additionally, it means putting an end to the presence of imperialist forces, whether they bear the U.S, Canadian, Brazilian, or Kenyan flag, in places like Haiti [Applause]. And, as we have fervently expressed today, peace entails the absence of oppressive police forces within the communities they claim to serve, such as the wulani forest [Applause].
To those contemplating joining the ranks of these outside agitators during their planned visits to various cities, let me implore you: do not join them. We understand that securing a well-paying job with good benefits in today’s capitalist society can be considered a noteworthy achievement, particularly for individuals of black descent. We do not disregard the importance of economic stability. However, we firmly believe that the ultimate triumph lies in dismantling the systematic oppression faced by black communities both domestically and internationally. This requires a concerted effort to defeat the war waged against marginalized communities, surpassing any other accomplishment [Applause].
The Atlanta Police Department’s endeavor to entice New Yorkers to participate in their race is deeply alarming. Moreover, their decision to encroach upon the largest urban forest in the nation, disregarding the resolute opposition expressed by the people of Atlanta for over two years, is completely unacceptable. We must not forget that this same police department has actively engaged in the killings of Sunny and Challenger Community members solely for exercising their fundamental rights to protest, petition, and vote. This is the reality we face [Applause].
Our movement experienced a severe setback last year on July 29th, when the FBI, the DOJ, and numerous local police forces in St. Louis and Saint Petersburg launched a brutal assault on our chairman, Omali Yeshitela, Jesse Neville, and other dedicated activists. If we are to truly address the heart of the attacks on the African Liberation Movement in the United States, it is imperative that we center our discussions around the African People’s Socialist Party, the driving force behind this movement. This is where our struggle lies, where the National Liberation movement thrives, and where African internationalism prevails [Applause]. Let us amplify the dialogue surrounding the Aurora movement and Chairman Omali Yeshitela, shedding light on the unrelenting assault faced by the African Liberation Movement, not just within the United States, but on a global scale. Failure to address this vital issue renders our conversations meaningless [Applause].
We align ourselves with the spirit of the forest defenders in Atlanta, recognizing that everything reactionary must be confronted head-on. If we do not challenge it, it will persist indefinitely. Our mission, therefore, is to strike at the heart of the enemy by attending their recruitment events, preventing individuals from unknowingly becoming complicit in their oppressive system. However, it is crucial that we also engage in the arduous task of reaching out to the masses, especially those directly affected by police brutality, and uniting with them to eradicate the insidiousness of these injustices [Applause].
When we speak to the average New Yorker about “cop city,” they are familiar with the term as it signifies the excessive control and abuse of power wielded by the police force. Our objective should be to change this perception. The actions of these law enforcement officers have spiraled out of control, and it is evident that people are growing weary of it. Therefore, we cannot simply rely on Mayor Eric Adams or Mayor Andre Dickens, both of whom have proven their willingness to suppress and arrest peaceful protesters and overlook the cries for justice. We cannot rely on them or any other Democrat, regardless of their race or gender, as their interests align with upholding the current racist capitalist state. A lasting transformation can only be achieved through a socialist revolution that paves the way for black liberation and marks the end of oppression [Applause]. This revolution must be led by a diverse, working-class coalition [Applause].
Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed individuals present here today, I kindly request your undivided attention. We have been notified that we are currently trespassing on private property ÔÇô the grounds of the police department. If we choose to remain, arrests will take place. I urge everyone to consider peace as our response [Applause]. Let yesterday’s events serve as a lesson [Applause].
