The Unfair Burden of Child Support

A Tale of Two Families

My ex owes me monthly support payments for our two children. He was getting support from his ex-partner for two children he had with her. I guess his ex lost her job and he said she’s not paying him anymore and now he’s trying to get what he owes me changed because of that. I didn’t think that any support for children that are not ours was used towards his income calculation for what he owed me. He also owes me like 4 months of back payments he hasn’t made so that wouldn’t change regardless, right? It seems unfair that my children will suffer now because of his ex and their children.

The Impact on My Children

As a parent, it’s heartbreaking to see my children suffer because of circumstances beyond my control. My ex’s financial struggles with his ex-partner’s job loss are not my problem, and I shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of it. My children deserve to have a stable and secure upbringing, and it’s unfair that they’re being affected by someone else’s financial issues.

The Need for Clarity

I’m not sure what to do in this situation. I’ve tried to reason with my ex, but he’s not listening. I need someone to help me understand the legal implications of his request and how it will affect my children’s well-being. That’s where AI Legalese Decoder comes in.

That sounds more like a him-problem that he needs to figure out on his own. He still owes you.

File an Order of Contempt with the court.

(Also FYI other kids not yours do affect your calculation BUT not in this scenario. For example, if YOU have other kids (dependents) that are not his and he owes you support, it actually makes him owe you MORE because this factor affects your ability to care for your current shared dependent. Your ex’s ex kids do not count in this factor. If you were the one paying and he had other kids to take care of, sure that would affect you but this is not the case, and she was the one paying him anyways.)

    His logic is shit.

Not your problem I guess he’ll need a better paying job. His received support is not used to calculate what he pays

He can file for a modification or hold his other ex in contempt for not paying child support, but that doesn’t affect what he owes to your kids in child support.

Lol my ex owed me $16,000… The $26,000
The courts found him guilty for one count per child for criminal non support… One count per child…
    (We were never married)

Also he was found guilty of 4th degree felony for criminal abandonment of family and minor children.

He was placed on CNR…. OHIO criminal non support probation. That means he has an invasive probation until all money is paid off which will be a lot more money and many many more years.

He would be picked up on nonpayment or missing a court date. They would do (the courts) what they call a purge.
That means they would travel 200 miles away where he lived…. Cuff and arrest him… Keep him in jail until his girlfriends.or family paid his PURGE… A certain amount of money.
