Why would you want to put people in danger and open yourself up to lawsuits

    What does your insurance say?

  • JohnWilliamStrutt

    > Furthermore, looking at the definition of ÔÇ£heightÔÇØ in CASR refers you to Annex 2 of the Chicago Convention which dictates ÔÇ£heightÔÇØ as being 150m above water/sand or 300m above the nearest tallest structure

[Well you have a problem there, because you can only fly <120m above ground.](https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/drone-rules#:~:text=Rules%20for%20recreational%20drone%20operators,metres%20away%20from%20other%20people.)

If you are here (reddit) asking for this sort of advice you are not ready to fly a Drone anywhere near a populated area.

There are courses that you can do – that would probably be a good place to start.

Yes, but how is a drone going to get out of the way if it fails?
They don’t have wings, they don’t glide, they fall like a brick.

Just want to clarify this is for the sake of argument, not advice..

You can’t fly with 30m cylindrical radius (infinite Z axis) without approval from CASA (ie surf life saving has approval to fly over people) – Source Chief Remote Pilot

I think that you go need to re-read CASA Drone laws:

120m is the max height above take off altitude and you cant fly over populated areas full stop.

How the heck do you come to the conclusion that flying 300m up is enough to “clear the populated area”.

What sentences are you putting together to come up with that? Source please.

This is the worst piece of legislation I have ever read, and I read quite a few acts and regulations.

There’s going to be a day when someone is flying their drone in a public place, and it falls on someone and hurts, or even kills someone. “No drones” signs will be the new “no scooters”.
