## **Chase Fraud: A Nightmare Experience**

Hello everyone,

### **Discovering the Drainage of My Checking Account**

A month ago, I was deeply alarmed to realize that I couldn’t locate my debit card or wallet. Concerned about the possibility of fraudulent activities, I quickly accessed my Chase app to review my recent transactions. To my utmost horror, I discovered that my checking account had been completely drained. Over a three-day period, a staggering total of 84 transactions had taken place, all directed towards Apple.com electronic purchases. The transaction amounts ranged from $9.99 to $99.99 and $109.99 USD.

### **Taking Immediate Action**

Naturally, I panicked and immediately contacted Chase’s fraud department. They swiftly responded by locking down all of my cards and crediting the $9k amount back into my checking account. Reassured by their prompt action, I was informed that an investigation would be conducted to confirm the fraudulent nature of these transactions. It was then that I made a startling discovery – my wallet and debit card were actually in my car the whole time. Although Chase had already canceled my cards, I didn’t see it as a major setback.

### **The Role of AI Legalese Decoder**

Had I not initially believed that I had lost my card, I would never have logged into my Chase account and stumbled upon the considerable drainage. This is where AI Legalese Decoder can prove to be immensely helpful. By utilizing advanced artificial intelligence technology, the AI Legalese Decoder can swiftly decipher complex legal jargon, providing clarity and understanding during such chaotic situations. In this specific case, the AI Legalese Decoder could assist me in comprehending the terms and conditions set by Chase, helping me navigate through their investigation process with greater confidence.

### **Unveiling the Disturbing Information**

Approximately a month later, today to be precise, I received a rather distressing notice from Chase. Astonishingly, they had concluded that I had authorized all 84 transactions and, without any prior notice, intended to claw back the entire $9k on October 26th. As I read through the notice, tears started streaming down my face.

### **Seeking Clarification and Proof of Fraud**

Determined to challenge this decision, I immediately contacted Chase’s fraud department. Shockingly, I was informed that the case had been closed due to a “lack of evidence of fraud and previous transactions to the vendor.” This left me devastated and confused. It seemed that simply being an Apple customer like millions of others was enough reason for me to be financially devastated. Strangely, the bank never requested evidence of fraud or asked me to upload any relevant documents until I reached out to them today. Naturally, this prompted me to spend six hours today meticulously uploading all 84 Apple receipts obtained from the Chase portal back to Chase. However, I still remain uncertain about whether this would be considered sufficient or relevant by the bank. Regrettably, the fraud department appears to be located in India, and the representatives seem unsure of themselves, lacking clarity on the exact burden of proof required from me.

### **The Suspicion of Foul Play**

In light of Chase’s unexpected closure of the case due to a lack of evidence, especially without ever requesting any evidence from me in the first place, I cannot help but suspect foul play. I feel entirely blindsided by their ambiguous process. This unsettling situation has left me contemplating whether I should contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and file a formal complaint. Unsurprisingly, fear has gripped me tightly.

Faced with this distressing predicament, it is evident that having access to the AI Legalese Decoder could provide invaluable assistance. By using its advanced algorithms, this tool could help me dissect and understand complex legal terminologies, empowering me to effectively communicate my concerns and grievances to the relevant authorities. With its support, I could potentially strengthen my case against Chase and receive the justice I deserve.

I would also contact Apple and submit all those ids to them. Apple can close/cancel the accounts are help acknowledge them as fraudulent.

It wouldn’t hurt to also file a police report with all the Apple ids and send that to Chase and Apple too.

But it’s unclear how they were able to use your debit card if it was in your car.

A crazy possibility is your computer got compromised and someone used it to make all these purchases with new apple accounts. This will be harder to convince Chase because the purchases would have come from your own device.

And not helpful now but in the future don’t use a debit card for anything except the ATM.

I would consider contacting the cfpb and let the financial institution know that is what you are going to do also. Banks dont like having the cfpb sniffing around and letting them know you are going to move things along will likely influence the bank to be more helpful.

  • burblicolforx

Police report should be done immediately. That would be your evidence.

  • OutlanderInMorrowind

never mention finding your wallet to them in any additional conversations.

It’s pretty clear that your wallet getting lost wasn’t even relevant to what happened, it just coincided with you checking your account and realizing you were compromised.

BUT if you mentioned that you found it they might have noted it down and are using it as “user did not actually lose card so clearly they’re trying to scam the bank”

I would second making a claim on CFPB. The CFPB actually has government powers to force compliance of banks, or issue high fines. If chase tries to do what WF does, chase will try to mail all responses to you instead of replying on the site. Just be diligent and make sure CFPB has all the information available, even if it means uploading Chase’s letters.

  • arclight415

Get a police report. This helps greatly in establishing you as not a participant in the fraud. Also file a CFPB complaint.

Go in person to a physical location

There have been multiple posts about card fraud being denied by Chase. I donÔÇÖt personally use Chase so not sure if their fraud department isnÔÇÖt great. I personally set limits on any of my debit cards to block anything more than $20. I never use my debit card except for ATM use, so this protects me from randomly being hacked.

Credit cards are usually a more safe option and keeps you more protected from fraud. Hope this works out for you because 9K of random Apple transactions is pretty out of the ordinary for anyone.

  • mcfatback

Your evidence should’ve been submitted at the beginning. They are required to disclose documentation behind their decision, but you need to request it. Previous transactions to a merchant is not evidence you authorized these charges, that’s a load of malarkey. My advice, you need to get the right person on the phone, ask for their evidence, supply your evidence and request to reopen investigation. You should also hit Apple from your side. If you don’t get a satisfactory answer, BBB/AG in your state. These big institutions don’t care about you.

Source: Your friendly neighborhood fraud fighter. Lemme know how this goes and if you’d like additional guidance at that time.

  • Intelligent-Mine8251

The evidence youÔÇÖd need now is a police report. Possibly something from Apple as well.

If you submit a police report and the police specifically see obvious signs of not you using it and annotate itthat should be sufficient evidence.

If somebody is faking it, they generally wonÔÇÖt file a fake police report. A police officers words in a report has more weight than when an every day citizen states the same things. Is what it is. Use it to your advantage.
